Gear knob , does it come apart ?

Hi all just tidying up the boxster its a 986 ,does the silver plastic come off the gear knob ? As I want to get a couloir match and respray it as its work through to black at some points ?

Nope! Don't do it, I tried and ruined mine. The paint sticks to the glass and looks a mess once pulled off. The only plus side was it forced me to go and buy a nice new carbon fibre one

I mean the silver bit can you pull it of and leave the gator and knob in place, some of the silver has scratched off.
