Get the discs skimmed (if enough surface material left to work with) and some original Porsche pads and wear sensors from the deal?
Given the cost of replacement discs it doesn't really represent much if any of a saving.

maybe I am old fashioned but I find the fact that discs on such a high end car rust or lip so badly after 2yrs or 20k miles p*ss poor frown Quite shocked to hear in fact.

Had an email earlier from EuroCar Parts sale re: online weekend sale (including brakes) with an extra 5% code (EXTRA5).

Did a quick check and seems and complete front 'kit' for most 9x6 & 9x7 models (pads, discs, fitting kit with new sensors) comes in at under £170 inc VAT ...

www.carparts4less.co.uk is the same company and generally cheaper.

Use code CP15LESS to get a further £15 off orders which are over £100.

I've just ordered new discs and pads for my Cayman. (Not rusty, but the cracks from the holes are starting to get a bit much!)

Never knew they were the same !

Comparable order with CP15LESS comes in a £189inc Vat for a 9x7 specific model.

Didn't check all possibilities.

Guess it's the Sale & extra 5% thats makes the difference

Has the sale started yet? Perhaps I've messed up.

My order from carparts4less was £169 delivered.

That was for two front Sebro discs and a set of front Textar pads.

When I did the same on eurocarparts it was £222.

It has... but the ECP price of £170 includes 4 new damping plates and 2 new sensors, so cheaper?

They seem to run these 'sales' every couple of weekends, so as someone mentioned above worth waiting for unless it's critical

I must be doing something wrong, I can't get anywhere near that price on ECP.

So, to bring this back up, my car is in for it's four year service and the brake pad wear sensor came on recently.....just had an email quoting me;

"Front Discs and Pads £920.14"

£920 seems steep just for the front pads and discs!?!?!?
At around £200 for the parts its ludicrous.
I still need to get this sorted!

Trev, you mention £200 for the parts but I can't get OEM discs and pads for £200!

I found these;

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt66_202_-cma81-cmo1...

"Brake disc Original Porsche Left (£150.46)
Brake disc Original Porsche Right (£150.46)"

I called them up to ask about these and they said that with the OEM pads, sensors and VAT added the total was circa £620.......they said these items are bought from a Porsche Dealer and resold by them. So if thats the cost of OEM stuff, it's circa £300 for the OPC to fit them??

I know there are cheaper options out there but I want to keep the car 100% OEM and next March I will be renewing my warranty and can't be arsed with them rejecting it because I've put aftermarket items on the car...........starting to think the £920 OPC isn't so bad now...........or am I missing something???

Sign up for ECP newsletters, they regularly have 30-35% sales at the weekends.

Liam - you could fit these and it's highly unlikely that anyone could tell them from geniune unless they were removed.

Alternatively, genuine ones here @ £135: http://type911shop.co.uk/epages/de867ca1-377e-432e...

Or Textar/Sebro full front kit: http://type911shop.co.uk/epages/de867ca1-377e-432e...

I Must 've doing something wrong then as my current 996 turbo discs are approx 5 years old and still good and my previous c2 were at least 4 Yeats old (on the car when I bought and sold it) they get cleaned every couple of weeks or so and I never dry the discs out, kept on drive and I commute to work for roughly 10000 miles a year. Maybe brake harder to keep them clean?

You are saying that your discs last 50k? Interesting.

I suppose technically ive done ~20,000 on them and previous owner did maybe 10 on them (ive only had the turbo 2 years) but it was more about they dont all rust away in 2 years. I'm convinced it lack of use that kills them. The C2 i must of done about 40,000 on and were still fine.
