Not a fair comparison as the GTS driver had a watch on resulting in excess weight!!

If he had taken the watch off would have shaved 5 seconds off the lap beating the GT4.

As much as I like pdk with paddles, surely a better comparison is stick on stick.

I'm sure if that was done the gap would be another 3-4 wider again.

Given that the GT4 has got a lot of trick front end I would have expected better, but you can't see the spec or tyres they are each on, but assuming they are using stock and the GTS has got the PTV, makes me very happy with my GTS. Even if I would like a gt4

Pilot cup 2 on the gt4 vs most likely PSS or p zeros on the gts. The real gap is probably only 1 or 1.5 seconds max on identical rubberaround such a short circuit.

Great vid but not really a true like for like comparison.

In all honesty without knowing that, whether it has PTV, what tyres they were on, whether the GT4 was on standard ARB settings - even assuming it is the same driver on the same day - the video is merely interesting, but not really informative.

That is a chasm of time on track. Given lack of PDK, that is very impressive.

IMO the GTS is a better around road car so unless you're a track warrior it's meaningless.

definitely with same tyres this would a much thinner gap....

and the PDK is the top spec GTS, the GT4 is coming with its top spec so its a fair comparison.

I've owned a Cayman GTS and currently have a GT4 in the states. I love my GT4 as can be expected due to the combination of it coming from the Motorsport division, the limited supply, and all the good press.

But, what may surprise I found the Cayman GTS to be way underrated - it is truly a fantastic Porsche. At the time, naysayers claimed the GTS is just an option package. This may be true, but the combo of options really work.

I would say the biggest difference between the two cars are the tires. If both ran on Michelin Cup 2s, I think the lap time differences would be closer than one would guess, depending on the track of course as the GT4 does have the added power to take you up hill, or from a slow turn to a long straight.

I found the X73 suspension option on the GTS to be incredible. I like the feel of it better than the GT4. Of course, I like the idea of the more robust Motorsport derived bits on the GT4 but the X73 is really easy to drive at the very limit.

For those who own a Cayman GTS or are considering buying one, if you can ignore all the accolades bestowed on its big brother the GT4, you will find the Cayman GTS to be one an extremely satisfying car to drive on the street and track.
