The two most expensive GT4's for sale on PH are PTS, the third most expensive is GT Silver.

Seems like the market values PTS more than it cost when new which is encouraging. Kudos to the Mexico seller for securing a GT3 without having to part X the GT4, my OPC said part exchanging my Voodoo GT4 (for list) is my best chance of GT3 allocation.

Most seem in that boat, the seller has pulled some magic for sure :-)

All Lotus gearboxes since 2006 are actually pretty good.

Disrespect the V6 Exiges on your next trackday and come back and tell us how you got on wink

The right PTS colour will help a car sell and colour will always influence my buying decision. I won't buy a black car no matter how good the deal is and some people will be exactly the same with Red, White, Yellow etc.

There was a Riviera Blue 991.1 GT3 in JZM that sold within 6 hours 2 months ago for £136k

I have been watching these closely since February/March time, a lot of cars are still unsold from being advertised for several months. The Grey PTS car was advertised for more than it is now and has been on the Porsche approved site for some time, if it was 'worth' more than non PTS cars it would of sold by now!

I've been looking for a GT4 and nearly jumped in, but begrudge paying over list for a car that is over a year old, with more than 550 in the UK (also a large number for sale at the moment). It a car that was selling for over 100k just before the end of last year, another point to consider is there will be a lot of owners wanting to sell to get into their new GT3s towards the end of the year.

Just look at 997 or 991 GT3 values, I personally think they are much more car for you money than a GT4 with a true motorsport engine!

The Leicester car I think from memory was 98k, then dropped to 95k, 93k, 92k and is now 90k all in the space of a couple months.

Which is why everybody who owns one should drive it --- plenty of fun to offset a little depreciation.

So you bought it to make a profit ?

Shame ....

I didn't buy to make a profit. Hopefully I'll get list for it from my OPC as part X for a GT3 so "the market" is totally irrelevant to me. If I don't get a GT3 allocation I'll keep the GT4 as there's nothing else I fancy short of a McLaren and sadly that's not an option for me right now.

Be gentle. Beers have been drunk.

The 997 in gen 2 form is now well over 100k and has been rising. 120k for a good club sport car. It'll be much harder work to live with on the road too plus the clutches are a good deal heavyset than the gt4.

Personally I'd prefer the gt4 over the gen 1 991 gt3 and that's a good 45k more expensive.

The gt4 as said before is a bargain at current prices. It wouldn't surprise me that in 5/6 years if the F6 is dead and we have a hybrid or turbo GT4 that prices of the current and next generations appreciate.

Also if you buy one at over list you'd stand a very good chance of getting a new next generation from your dealer. That would then outweigh the cost of buying the used one.

Very rough numbers. A 991.1 GT3 is about £45K and a 991.1 GT3RS is about £140 more than a GT4 at current prices. Surely this makes the GT4 the bargain of the century?

Depends which way you look at it, to me it just makes the 991.1 GT3 and RS look over priced :-) and the 991.2 GT3 is the bargain of the century.
pointless to look at those 2 cars though as they are Automatics ! and the rumor mill has manual 991.2 GT3 at £200k

I would also take a GT4 over a 997.1 GT3 and as the 997 GTS is £85 for a manual a GT4 then looks cheap over a 2010 GTS in the Porsche range!

GTS are now priced out the market imo when a Cayman R is half the price and the GT4 now cheaper !.

which leaves the 997.2 GT3 and prices have dropped a bit (bar the new private dreamer advert lol ) so sub £110k get you a nice one if you want more hardcore a car.

I think the real winner for drivers here is the Evora 400 now at £58k , it's a direct car to go head to head with a GT4 and while new I would take a GT4 every day, £75k vs £80k speced So the 400 would never get a look in from me new, now the GT4 is £85k and the Evora is £57k the 400 is worth a look and has better steering for the purest.

Same performance, same kind of car but £30k in your pocket left over, has to be worth a look imo if you like driving. Buy that now and wait for the gen 2 GT4 spec to be announced.

Firstly the 997.2 has appreciated not depreciated recently. JZM were selling at sub 110k, 107k was what they were asking for a coupe of CS spec cars that they had less than a year ago and now they're selling at more like 117k plus for a CS spec car. The silver and red cars they have on for £116900 so its clear to see prices for these have gone up in the last 12 months not down so you are completely wrong on that one. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Secondly, the Evora 400 cannot be compared to a GT4 as the 'same sort of car'. It will literally be falling to pieces in about 10 years when the GT4 still feels like a new car. There's your price difference. What sense does it make to just buy the Evora over the GT4 now while waiting for the Gen 2? You'll still lose a packet by the time you buy it then sell it on or part ex it just like you will a GT4 so it'll probably cost you £10k. I know you're a 'Master'' of selling privately but a lot of us can't be arsed dealing with some of the morons that entails.

Yes they went up I was close to buying at £95k but had the GT4 on order, then the rise, now in the last month imo prices are down a bit and sales are slow every where. The GT silver JZM car would have been over £120k a few months back imo. and there is a nice white one for sale at £106k these are new lower prices for sure and NOT moving at those prices so a deal to be had as most cars are SOR !

Lotus are ok at the 2nd hand price point and build is well up from 5 years ago, Evora 400 or GT4 you might loose £10k on either, in fact more so on a GT4 imo as if you part ex OPC want a bit more than a Lotus dealer ! I doubt you will see a Evora 400 at £45k

I would not buy a new Lotus but £57k for a 400 would be tempting while people waited for the GT4 to keep dropping or the gen 2 specs.

I guess if you are very anti Lotus then it's a no go lol I have a love hate with the brand myself.

Must admit that although I'm far more into the Lotus ethos than the Porsche one, I've been put off them in recent years due to their shoddy products and lack of development. As you say difficult to choose a new 400 over a GT4, but at £57k for a near new car worth considering (though even now at around 1400kg it's still a bit of a tank). Thanks for the thought - I'll definitely give one a try before finalising on an Alpine purchase.

But how much luggage can you get in a lotus? And what's it like on a 400 mile round trip?
Sorry you can't beat a Porsche you can keep your Lotus!
If I wanted a sub £50k car I would buy a 987.2CS engine then tweaked to circa 350hp and some nice passive suspension and 18" wheels etc
