What else is out there at that price point ? A late 991.1s is going to cost c£80k a good 991.1gts £95k so IMHO the gt4 sits somewhere in the middle ! If you buy well between £85-90k I don't think you will loose your shirt over the next few years! List plus a few well chosen extras is £70-75k if it hits that marker so does everything else ie it's all relative!
To be honest this was actually my point, and frankly not bothered by what happens in the fickle car market.
I was looking at cars well above the current price point of the GT4 I purchased, but the GT4 was a better overall package for me. It's special but does have daily capability if you wanted to. You'd need to spend at least £90k to get something night and day 'better' in my opinion.

So what would you suggest was so much better than a GT4 at a little more than £90k?

Nothing, in the sports car market, which is why I bought one.... see my post on page 254. Anything that offered 'more' was much more money, and then was more compromised in one direction or another.
My shortlist was 570GT, AMG GT S and in-house would have been 911 GTS or Turbo - all more expensive than the GT4 but lose out to it in one way or another in my opinion. Not sure what the actually prices are on 991.1 GT3 these days but they are more expensive also and older.
Not sure what else below in price offers the brand, performance and dynamic blend.
As a package the GT4 is very tough to beat even at the current prices. At list with options it was a steal. Just as at launch... today it still has no direct competitor.
The point of my answer to the pricing/ residual question was .... its a great car, enjoy it for what it is.... buy now if you want one and don't worry about what it will be worth.

I'm not sure what's 'night and day' better at £200k to be honest! In fact how much is a 675LT selling for these days? £350k and it beat that to the top of the Ecoty awards.

Personally I think it's the bargain of the century. Prices have definitely risen slightly. Probably a combination of less supply and summer increase. Prices might take a slight knock when the next gen arrives in what late 2018 / early 2019 but you won't lose your shirt. Makes sense to buy now while they're still low ownership and low miles / fresh.

The GT4 RS is going to be epic! I've heard 450 bhp-ish and a 4 litre motor test car exists.

I'm sure it exists, but I don't think it'll make production.

I know, I added that bit in at the end for some drama! I think we'll see it. Time will tell...

Appreciate the feedback guys.

I'm looking to use the car, so not worried about it losing value due to mileage. Was more worried about buying in now and then losing circa 20-25% value when the bubble bursts and wondering why I didn't wait hehe

Any particular spec items I should be looking for? Not going to see the track much, so not too concerned about Clubsport pack, unless you think it improves the road driving as well.

I have a CS and it's my view that for road work there is little if any benefit.

But it was for me one of the big advantages of the GT4 over the CR --- permitting full harnesses and HANS to be used --- for extra safety on track.

A three point belt can be pretty scary at the speeds these cars will maintain on track ...

It is all down to personal taste, but from the extensive research I've done, I would say the Full Race Seats, Leather and *PCM are what sells a car the most. The rest are take or leave.

  • it is fairly rubbish, and already old technology, but it is still expected for the most part, and does include a map within the right binnacle which is handy for overtakes.

Which bubble could this be? The modest premium as opposed to 'bubble' on the GT4 reflects the cars true ability, so no need to worry. Prices will be maintained for some considerable time yet.

Spec wise, sounds like clubsport not essential especially as there are drawbacks such as creaking cage points, extra weight and upsetting the cars balance (according to Walter Rohrl).

Good spec, colour, few owners (pref 1)and lowish mileage are 'essential' with these cars to maintain residuals. Buckets (pref Spyder), nav, leather, coloured stitching and carbon are the obvious ones.

Just take a look at the table above to get a good idea of whats hot and whats not. To me the major ones are PCM (Nav), leather (which gives you grey stitching), buckets and PCCB's at the more expensive end of the market. Carbon seems to be quite an individual choice as the brushed actually brightens up the interior and my latest car has anthracite which is actually quite nice!

On the mileage front, I have seen cars with over 10k sell quickly. The one on the south coast with 16k miles sold in about 2 weeks. The whole mileage thing annoys me as it frightens people into leaving the thing in the garage. A used car is probably a better car.

I recently had to get a valuation for insurance purposes, I sent them the full spec and the things they mentioned on the valuation letter when it came back were the low mileage, buckets and PTS colour.

I am surprised that the Tewksbury Club Sport car hasn't sold yet. Its a very good spec and one of the cheapest on the market.
The Blue Bolton one is also good value in my opinion and has a good spec.

Lots available though (17 as of right now) and plenty of movement over the last few months. Have the number of buyers willing to pay the 'overs' price dried up? Or are they picking up new/used GT3s instead?

Just bought a GT4...

Bought it in Germany so the price isn't directly comparable - it has 745 miles on the clock and is about GBP 1,000 over list. I think that's a fantastic deal.

I have been looking for a while. The advert went up this morning and they (say they) had over 10 calls already. Which I can understand as it's about GBP 15k+ cheaper than the others advertised!

Bought from a porsche dealer. One previous owner. Manufactured about a year ago.

Even as the pickiest of purchasers I could not find a single issue, not even a hairline scratch, inside or out.

optionals:

clubsport packet
cruise control
sound package plus
mobile phone prep
bi-xenons
light design package
sport chrono
interior carbon packet
full buckets (of course given clubsport package)
automatic rain sensor / interior mirror thing
PCM / Nav

And blue - the only colour to have it in...

Won't be picking it up until next month sadly.

Thanks!

In Germany I live the other side of the country but the driving roads by my place are amazing.

That said, I'll be using this in England mostly. Living in Shoreditch atm.

Oh and I also got myself a "pre-contract" for the next Cayman GT car (whether GT4 RS or whatever), should be no.2 in the queue with the dealership.
