It's double the number of GTSs, yet this is supposedly the best thing since sliced bread, an ECOTY and a supposed 'bargain'?

It just shows most buyers were/are speculators and not drivers which is a real shame.

The cars is 2 years old now, and many GT4 people have GT3 allocations. that does not take away from the car, it's only 35 from 600 are for sale.

I class myself as a driver, but my car will come up for sale , what does that mean ?
Also people buying at £90k are going to loose money, these people must really want to own a GT4 and can in no way be speculators, 85 cars sold just within OPC network in 6 months !

That does really say the car must be good value for the prices to be this high still.

Not necessarily.

For the same reason as someone buying a 2 year old 991.1 GT3 last year for £125k.

With both cars, fact is there is little else out there as capable at the money.

Maybe, but why the high turnover? Why aren't people keeping them long? It's almost like people are trying them to tick the box then moving them on. I find that strange, if it's that good you'd keep it surely?

Possibly due to how sensitive the value is in correlation to mileage?

I've just bought one at £86k, and intent to keep for a few years doing 7k miles a year. The car has 5,500 miles on the clock so will probably end up selling when the car will be on ~ 20k

I'll probably make a loss, but the depreciation will be one of the best of any performance car in the sub £100k bracket.

the gearing is simple to understand the 987 tops out at 76 the GT4 85 in 2nd gear :-) .
Really my 987.2 use to top out at 80+ in second gear and that is close but not in the redline a 3.4 981 on 20s must be close to the gt4!

Twinfan you come over to this post and constantly go on about how many gt4 for sale but it's been that way a long time! I think we will see a drop off in the number when the final numbers of gt3 allocation and depositors and LOI failures start looking elsewhere !
Now I know you really want a Gt4 and I understand you missed out and don't want to pay overs which I would proberly be the same but if prices fall so would your beloved Gts so it will still cost a premium to change! Just get one bought you won't regret it!
I really wanted a Sport Classic and when they were new cost £140k so I thought I would wait 3 years and natural depreciation and they would fall to £70-80K like how it use to be! It never did it fell to £100k+ and so I missed the boat. The Gt4 will not hit list any time soon as I said before there are no more F6 NA cars coming through unless it's a premium car and by mid 2019 (2020 model year) even those will be turbo!
The only car I would replace mine at the moment with is 991.2 gt3 with the touring pack but you ain't going to get one of those for less than £200k but my realistic budget is cars under £75k so in truth it would be a 718 Gt4 if they make one and it has a na f6 but they need to get it out in the next year or that will be f4 turbo!
Now if world markets crash we will be back to late 2011 when it was a buyers market and not a premium/overs in site!

Have to agree - it's only just run in and should hardly have been driven near its potential . So you to conclude that they are pure flippers - or they don't run their cars in. If you intend to flip that won't be a major consideration for you - though perhaps it should be for the next guy paying over the odds.

Not possible regarding the 987, but yes the 981 is 85 mph also for a manual , but most people have PDK in the 981 which is much lower at 74mph.

a 3.4 981 PDK stays with a GT4 on the back straights at Silverstone.

This thread is about cars for sale is it not, hence my posts smile

I don't "really want a GT4" and I didn't try and get a GT4 allocation, but I am curious to see what all the fuss is about. I'll know more once I've been to PEC and had my GT4 session.

That turnover seems about right when you balance the total production numbers with the GT4's desirability in a buoyant market.

If you've got one, congratulations. If you haven't, it really is the 'real deal', and I'm a 911ophile.

It was (rightly) perceived as a car you could buy for essentially no loss and likely get a premium when selling on on top so plenty of people were willing to take a shot on the car. Porsche also ended up delivering a lot of cars so out of those who did get a car, people either try to flip to capture said premium or simply found the car good but perhaps not good enough to keep long term. Not such a surprise surely?

I guess not, I just thought it would have stabilised by now!

I've had a lot of Porsches over many years, and I was offered a GT4 after missing out on a 911R and awaiting a 991.2 GT3, and I have to say, it's a brilliant little car, and nothing else comes near it for the money.

These days, my use is 'on road' and it's proved to be one of the sweetest Porsches of all time, despite replacing a 2.7RSL. Both my kids, although still in their teens, race at a very high level and are very critical of most cars, but they adore it on road or track.

If you've git one, congratulations. If you haven't, I can thoroughly recommend it.
Tis a lovely car the GT4, though I'd never part with my 2.7RS

Did I see you at Colchester the other Sunday with your son in your wife's yellow Gt4 or was it someone else? The 991RS I mentioned in an earlier post was the white one there along with about 3x 991R

Yes possible I cannot remember exact speed but it was around 80mph for second and about 105 mph for third in 987 spyder whereas gt4 is 85/115

Congratulations Jay, looks like I'll be keeping mine then. wink

No time to drive mine, but probably couldn't have found my way to sell it anyway. Not sure if that makes me a good or bad person by the Porsche community, but don't care biggrin
Thanks Ian - Couldn't resist any longer!

If you keep hold of yours we should certainly get out there for a drive at some point driving

Gorgeous example. Was admiring when picking up my new Cayman a few weeks ago. I am a tiny bit jealous!

Yep, mine is going to be driven daily. I'll likely add 10k miles in the next year

But what else would you rather have for 90k? I was looking at AMG GT/RS6s but all too big heavy and powerful and unengaging.

There is just something deeply appealing about the GT4...
