I'm having to debate what to do with my car; totally wasted on me, one personal problem after another meaning no time to get out in it, but I absolutely love it so much. What should I do, sell it and let someone else enjoy, or tuck away in the hope things improve. I'm at risk of having a very low mile ornament and no idea if it will hold value over a long term!
keep it, get up early, go for a drive.

Just about to press the button on a P/X deal on mine (yellow car at Reading). Taken a plunge and replacing it with a McLaren which is so different its chalk and cheese (not better just different).

Ironically the car I wasn't driving whilst having the GT4 was my 993 (it never even came outside during that time), the GT4 fulfilling all the analogue fix that I could want. I guess one positive effect of moving it on is the 993 will get used again!

One of the favourite moments of ownership was on a Euro trip in '16 where we found some unused mountain passes in the Pyrenees. We had a collection of various other cars with us, a mix of V8s and V12s and nothing could keep with the GT4 on the twisty bits - pure driving gold.

Values wise, even with the prices starting to soften slightly (and it is only slightly), it's still one of the cheapest (from a depreciation perspective) cars that you can actually go out and buy. I'm willing to bet that if I try and get back into a GT4 in a couple of years then it will cost me money!

Today I agreed the sale of my cherished CGTS after 21k miles in just under two years. Fantastic car, just completely blew me away after a car life starting with a 1975 Scirocco TS in 1982 at 18 on through the usual suspects of various GTi's.

It was keep the GTS for a long long time or change now whilst I could still get a good price for it, reading the threads on here about 991.2 GTS's, Evora's, 540C's lead me to the conclusion that the only step up I could afford was a GT4.

So luckily for me I've found a non advertised one with the options I wanted, clubsport, PCCB's, 918 buckets, DAB, cruise, lighting and dual zone aircon.

Collect next week, some great recent posts on here indicating I'm going to enjoy it.

Thanks for the work in compiling the stats regularly!

Just back from a Euro Trip albeit different bits and second your thoughts on the twisty bits, Col du Turini was a fantastic run as we're many bits but I enjoyed driving up and down that a lot smile

Will be interesting to hear your thoughts after owning the GTS for a good amount of time

I don't think width will be a problem (quite) - I've got a bit to spare in my S. Getting up to the upper deck might just be a bit of an issue if you're returning laden from a boose cruise, though the S has never grounded when inebriate, though it often feels marginal. Might be worth asking to use the lower deck.

A few days ago I had a drive in the much hyped 991.2 gts- the minute I sat back in the 4 I knew it's nearly impossible to replace- don't take it for granted!
I'd be interested in hearing how the 991.2 GTS compares - is it no where near as special to drive?

Both times they put us on the lower deck.

Thanks BCR and Atom.

I've now done about 300km of hooning around backroads here in Germany. Mostly keeping revs below 5k-6k, but initial impressions:

- i need to change setup to understeer less. I recall Chris Harris did the same; I must also be a driving god therefore

- I'm not using all power yet but have semi- wrung it out a few times and can tell it "deserves" another 10% at least

- roll cage squeeks as always (why can't they engineer a solution to that by now), sound system is terrible, aircon not great

- none of that matters because this is the best Porsche I've driven since the 4.0 RS!

I did say don,t drive a stock car :-) ARB won't fix the drive either, it's helps to a point, but if you go rear stiff it's too stiff on the limit.
you need to buy some parts and set it set up properly

you can get 438 BHp from these car quite easy which shows how detuned the engine is.

take the cage out

AC seems good to me, get it checked re gassed.

The Air-con does have a soft/normal/strong in PCM, in UK normally Soft ok while away did change to normal and strong at times, handling I had geo done other than that for my needs it's spot on. I have the lighter and therefore possibly faster non-rollcage edition, so no squeeks smile

The sound system isn't as good as a Bose I had in my GTS, it's acceptable though.

Well yes, but there's understeer, and there's haven't got a clue what I'm doing. This looked like a case of the latter ....
My guess is the fact the bus was flat fronted and hit the individual square on, meant the forces were spread over a larger area. Either way, he was incredibly lucky to walk away !

My thought was that the guy was also drunk, which will also have contributed to his lack of serious injury.
