Got to say , you have my support on this one and in truth FWIW I think you've really reined it in of late - I agree for some reason PH is becoming less friendly and that's a shame.

I was in your OPC yesterday and we got onto the topic of forums and I mentioned you in passing as I know it's your local OPC : they spoke very fondly of you

probably to do with you usually slating the GT3 for engine in wrong place, caymen a more sweeter handling car, gearing being too long and the inability to use the engine as a result, (im guessing the suspension is now more user/road friendly) etc etc and yet you want in on the next evolution of the GT3. Then theres the references to how your spyder is a better drivers car now youve tinkered with it yet never appear to drive it.

Hence when questioned why youd want one (which you dodged btw), people said for flipping/hypocritical hth

Though i must admit you have chilled lately and left the previous generation GT3 threads alone

I think it's great that mrD is getting a new GT3. Ok in the past he swam against the tide and slated the 997/996 GT3 claiming they were compromised drivers cars and that the positive press and forum adulation was all mispaced ill informed hype. But now his OPC has rewarded him with an allocation for a 991 gen2 GT3 and leaving aside cynicism for a moment i think that's a great thing. He is an enthusiast. He is a supporter of the Porsche sports car division. He doesn't win his allegiance by buying lame diesel Porsche badged Audi SUVs. So thats a big positive. I wish my OPC valued me this much. Plse keep those mrD insights coming, the forum would be a much duller place without.

Of course there is no guarantee he will even get a GT3 allocation.

But lets hope he does.

Otherwise we may well be forced to him continuing talking up the abilities and prices of his wonderful and most perfect fleet being the Cayman R, 987 Spyder and, not least, the GT4.

One thing though, you don't have to buy Cayennes or Macans (though I wouldn't call them lame by any stretch of the imagination).

There has been much "debate" on the PH forums concerning Porsche v Lotus and which is "better". Well, as the proud owner of a Porsche GT4 and a Lotus 3-Eleven I would just say that, in my opinion, they are poles apart in too many respects (particularly these two) and, therefore, any comparison invariably boils down to what you own and/or what your idea of the "perfect sports car" should be.

Me? The Lotus cannot be beaten for early morning blasts and on track days where you commit 10/10ths - i's like a 400bhp go-kart! Everything else? The Porsche hands down, no contest - it's utterly brilliant across the board and it's inherit quality is unmatched in my experience.

Guildford... The exhaust note is a beut, best 6 I've experienced since my E46 M3 days (apart from a single run out in a 981 Spyder) I recon.. Now who can tell me of some fun routes to drive in the south east?
