The GT3 will always miss what the GT4 has imo.

Both great cars but I do love my Caymans.

It's a shame we have to buy our way into the new cars, it's like paying overs at the dealer for a new car :-(

Some people call others mad for paying overs, but we are all doing it without knowing.

GT4 also has the looks and is the bomb in yellow stickered up.

I also never thought I would choose to buy yellow but it wins hands down and Porsche know how to launch the cars in the best colour, hence its red for me on the new GT3 even if I am paying overs for it.
When you say 'we have had to buy our way into new Cars' how has that been your situation David. If you get a new gt3 allocation you'd have bought nothing apart from a GT4 recently so I don't see why you're complaining. ... just an observation. wink

Not that it’s any of my business, but I guess David is referencing the practice of giving back a car/cars for less than market value for an allocation and as such it is a “reverse overs” situation. I have mentioned this before and been heavily criticised for suggesting this practice goes on as some felt it was tantamount to a bribe and as such, I make a massive disclaimer that just because I recognise the theoretical practice exists, I am in no way suggesting that David, myself any dealer or anyone else on here has ever done this, etc, etc , me lud

No that's fair enough I thought he was referencing the purchasing of many new cars to get an allocation hence my question. This does seem sometimes, to go hand in hand with returning cars, especially GT cars for list or maybe less in some cases to get an allocation for something special. it does seem that some dealers operate in a different way to others.

In my opinion it’s a straight forward commercial exercise - The OPC has the asset that it has to sell for a fixed price (GT car) and (in the main but not always) tries to allocate that assert in a way that maximises its revenue stream be this

Financing
Added extras - paintcare etc
Gap insurance

But by far the “best” way to allocate is on the basis of what one might swap out of and what they pay for this (either in SOR fee / outright purchase) and what else people have or are going to buy and for what sort of price price.

Simple economics really - in truth GT cars are more of a gift to the OPC than the punter as they use them to leverage way more profit than the fixed price would suggest smile

Not so sure that the majority of OPCs are that bothered about the relatively minor amounts (in the grand scheme of things) gained by
selling add ons, even expensive ppf and finance deals etc. Equally servicing and warranty work appear low down on their list of priorities.

And most OPCs don't even appear to be that bothered about taking back cars at fair market value although way behind trade at say under otr cost for GT cars will exert some influence no doubt.

What would exert most influence is the regularity and probability of future orders in purchasing new vanilla models from the OPC and trading them back to that OPC at similarly regular intervals....both of these highly lucrative for the OPC but equally extremely expensive for the customer by way of depreciation hits.

Future Porsche GT car allocation will quite rightly not necessarily be the instant free interesting car motoring many now take for granted.

Yes I can see why it's a hotly debated topic. It can depend on really how much you want that allocation...

Also be interesting to see how the likely imminent 8% price increase due to the increasingly weakening pound, in line with Ferrari, will influence future demand.

Although the young lady with the challenged eye sight made me smile - I wonder if we should take this topic back to the GT4.

I thought all the owners on here would be pleased to hear my scientific GT4 fact.

I have had the pleasure of some lovely cars which I've taken to work - stunning Air-cooled masterpieces, a 991.1 GT3, a 981 Spyder and most recently a GT4 in yellow of all things. Without doubt, by a country mile, the one that has elicited the most positive comments (& I means loads) is the very sexy GT4 - thought you guys (and girls) would like this scientifically proven fact. smile

GT4 got more positive reaction than the GT3??
Yep - in fairness the 991.1 GT3 was GTSM and was Decal less - but yep no one batted an eyelid , however the GT4 gets lots of comments & as Fokker says, random open mouth stares/ points - I think the marketing people would say it resonates / indexes particularly well with 5-10 year olds - probably why I like it smile
Like the yellow - but I think you've got the rear wing sticker on the wrong way round. Just me?

I thought that initially, but a quick Google images search on 'Porsche rear wing decal' will show you that they are all like the above.

Thanks for yellow comment. Decal is technically correct and in real life looks “right” too - agree it looks odd in that shot smile

With regret, this will be my last update. I'm spending more time between here and Monaco and simply don't have the time to satisfy my need for data, so if anyone fancies taking over the updates (once a week or two is fine), just 'quote' this to get the 'source code'.

Plenty of movement since the last update, 6 added (Bristol, Solihull, Teeside, Edinburgh, Leeds, Bournemouth) and 3 removed (Bristol, Sutton Coldfield, Nottingham). No surprise that those removed/sold were generally the cheaper ones, and those added more expensive, so the average has increased a little to £86,948.

Sorry to hear that mate but good to see you working on the tan!
Make sure you come along to the RS day in March.

For what it's worth I think they've now stabilised anyway and no longer falling apart from perhaps seeing very high mileage examples in the future for less than normal. There are still a healthy amount for sale in the £90k's that also appear to be selling so people hoping to see them at £65k will be waiting a long time or it might actually never happen. There have been quite a few posts recently on here and the Facebook page from new owners so it appears people are snapping them up.

7000 miles in mine now.... Best car I have ever owned.

Thanks for yellow comment. Decal is technically correct and in real life looks “right” too - agree it looks odd in that shot smile
Good to know!

Hope all OK Ian with the family and Monaco is leisure based. Thanks for doing the list, even after you sold your car.

Dave - almost correct, but wrong colour rolleyes

What are the collective views on the Leeds car? I'm having a bit of a think about it, and it looks pretty decent to me, although not actually seen it - the mileage looks like it's barely been run in!
