Which is approx 2% of the total registered cars in the UK.

Back up to 14 today. Cars with higher specs seem to be selling much quicker than the cheaper lower specced ones. It seems that people are willing to pay for what they see as the right car.

I need to change my profile to UpnorthGT4 - I hope that these cars are as good as you all say they are.........

Picking up the yellow one from OPC Notts on Saturday!!
Congrats - I'm sure you will let us know what you think of it!

Yes - you were all right - fantastic first impressions - surprised how loud it is straight out of the box as I normally go with an aftermarket exhaust to get the right sound

Hopefully things continue in this vein
glad you are enjoying. managed to get out in mine for the first time in 2 weeks after buggering by back - its wonderful-

I’ve just got back from the lovely people at Porsche Kendal. Nothing to worry about at all and as someone above mentioned above it was the springs settling in and hitting the chassis. Completely normal for a GT car so I’m told.

Thanks all and safe driving

springs settling in on a 2 year old car ! , Mine never made any noise even from new. so not normal in any way.

You never had a clunk from the rear in 5000-7000 miles? Hole in the road = clunk on mine all the time, even though I try to avoid them obviously.
Most of them do it that I know of, its was a very well discussed event on here. Perhaps you were too careful with yours! wink

Yep, Iv'm on my 3rd GT4, 2 without club sport and 1 with. All of mine make a clunk when they go over a pot hole.

I was always quite shocked that the car felt like a limo, I don't drive over pot holes though as I tend to look where I am going :-)

I don't think it's being too carful, it's about looking more than 3 yards ahead ! But yes I do have a massive respect for mechanical sympathy etc

Maybe settling was the wrong word to use. How about moving. I went out on a test drive with the very helpful mechanic and it took us a while to find a suitable pothole to replicate the sound. He then took the car back to the shop raised it and checked all the struts and suspension and roll cage and showed me around the car explaining what everything was. So yes normal.

The front suspension on all 4 GT4s I have been in have clunked.

As previously metioned this is clearly a feature of the car and perfectly normal.

991 GT3s in contrast do not clunk which seems odd considering the front suspension is the same.

I thought most people were having a rear clunk anyway, all I can say is mine was limo smooth and never did a clunk. I even have some parts monoballed so less give if anything.

Its the rear of mine and the last GT4 was the same. One CS one non CS.
I do live on the edge of a city so every now and then I do drive into town where you can't avoid the odd hole in the road.
These cars are so solid though, nothing bothers it at all...

I think this car has significantly affected the 997.1 market as cars seem to hang around for a while - good spec gt4s seem to move quite quickly and there is a constant throughput of cars, especially via Porsche used - maybe as people receive their next GT allocation (gt3).

Having had one for a weekend I’m not suprised, whilst they don’t have that ‘top end zing’ of the gt3, everything else is improved (imo).

Is it the case that they need to be worked quite hard to get the most out of them - presumably this is the oft quoted ‘long gearing’ - I’ve not had chance due to greasy roads and the new car situation to push it along yet

Massively impressed though and it’s early days

It has bundles of torque though which makes the slightly longer gearing less noticeable. I love mine.
I wouldn't say you have to work it hard on the road, perhaps on track a bit but then who fast do you want to go?

Not that fast!!!

Just different engine charectoristics I suspect - I cannot find anything bad about it, which is unusual for me as I can be quite demanding - a great little package!! I say little, but the Techequipment cover I have (997.1 RS) fits it like a glove!!

You're right about the size. Its not at all small and has superb road presence. If you see another on the road, which isn't often, they look very wide and bloody superb...

I’m hoping that some Pilot Sport 4S make it a bit more playful at road speeds more of the time. I don’t think I’ll be doing many Trackdays in it so Cup 2 don’t make as much sense IMO.
