Does that mean you’ve pulled the trigger on a GT4?
Yup, thought it was time. Collect in just over a week. Keep thinking about moving up to a GT3-RS, but just can’t bear parting with the 4.... It just ticks so many boxes for me....!!
Any pics of the new baby....??
Thanks fellas. No decent pics yet until I get it home. Racing yellow with chairs, steels, PCM and sport chrono is the basic spec. Decided that buckets were not important to me considering that I only do 2 or 3 trackdays these days and that I've bought it to use regularly and not as an investment. Looking forward to it!
BTW I know of another friend that might pull the trigger soon so will give him the heads up on yours Swimfinz.

Well done and welcome. Hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing you at some meets and track days.No decent pics yet until I get it home. Did you test drive it already? What did you think?

Oooo..... Nice I nearly went for RY myself— suits the GT4 sooooo well....!! It’s got Chrono, it’s got PCM, it’s got 2 seats: what more do you need...?? The car is just fab straight out of the box (although I have been considering a crazy Jens Ehresmann upgrade— but I do go a bit OTT on these things...!!).... And the manual shift is just— Mmmmmm.....!!!!! BTW I know of another friend that might pull the trigger soon so will give him the heads up on yours Swimfinz.
Is it the RY one over at OPC Wilmslow....?? That was a lovely spec at a good price— nearly pulled the trigger on that one myself a while back: beautiful machine, could never quite work out why it hadn’t sold....
Buy it, drive it, screw the investment.... They will depreciate slower than anything else out there atm anyways.... And you’ll grin from ear to ear EVERY time you start it up....
Can’t wait to see the pics....!!

Indeed.Put new boots on mine on Friday, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 all-round, and a trip to Center Gravity in a couple of weeks time to get it properly set-up, dialled in and prepared for the nicer weather hopefully around the corner....
Been reading a lot about shims vs toe arms/links for rear adjustability.... I know what the common wisdom is but will be going to the consultation with a open mind just want to get the right set up for how I drive

Yes you will. Did you test drive it already? What did you think?
No need for a test drive, have been in plenty of friend's GT4s (Bubbles, Chris W, Ian H) so already know how good they are. However, will be interesting for me to see the difference to my CR which I have really enjoyed the last couple of years.

Yep that's the one. It's my local OPC and the buying experience was great. I think most buyers want buckets so would have dismissed it. The aftermarket stripes might have put a few off too. They're gone now and it looks so much better IMO.Is it the RY one over at OPC Wilmslow....?? Shims vs arms ! What do you mean ? You cannot add rear shims as it changes the toe and the rear toe links are fixed lol , daft move by Porsche, I guess to keep it behind GT3’sPut new boots on mine on Friday, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 all-round, and a trip to Center Gravity in a couple of weeks time to get it properly set-up, dialled in and prepared for the nicer weather hopefully around the corner....

You are going to need adjustable rear toe links to do any thing as you cannot adjust the front end if you cannot tie in the rear.
Most modded GT4 I have seen have too much rear camber though , the GT4 has massive rear boots so watch the rear camber as shops will dial in more than you can use, so you will loose grip/traction.
But you will need to buy rear adjustable toe links to do anything worth doing even for fast road.
Well center gravity fitted shims to the front off mine and I didn't bother with the rear arms ( as they advised me with my use for the car it wasn't really needed) and maxed the rear out on standard parts, also adjusted the rear anti roll bar.
Made a big difference to mine as it did under steer and after it was much better and being wet on the day it was easy to see and feel the difference on there little car route.

it's an ok fix but most people inc myself end up moving the bar back to the middle setting as it makes the car too unstable at speed.Made a big difference to mine as it did under steer and after it was much better and being wet on the day it was easy to see and feel the difference on there little car route.
At slower road speeds the ARB is ok fix but not the right one once speeds start to pick up. hence why it prob was ok on a wet day, felt fun and removed understeer. put the car down craners at 100mph with that set up not so fun.
ALso you will be limited on front camber due to the rear being fixed, I ran -2.2 on the road it was just about perfect with even tyre wear and no edge wear.
look at most GT4's at the RS day most had very bad edge wear as people seem reluctant to fix the car which I find odd.

Same here. The Track Precision app gave me a lap time 1.8s faster at Donners after I had the changes made. How much of that was down to a bit more negative camber, versus conditions, me, just having the setup done so everything was as it should be (front toe angles were unbalanced before) who knows. But there is more feel on the road and more confidence on track so worth doing IMO, even if you stop short of adding the rear toe links.Made a big difference to mine as it did under steer and after it was much better and being wet on the day it was easy to see and feel the difference on there little car route.

I was booked in to have the rear arms fitted but after the chat you have with them, we came to the conclusion that arms at this point was not needed as the car is not a track car and probably never will be while I own it.At slower road speeds the ARB is ok fix but not the right one once speeds start to pick up. hence why it prob was ok on a wet day, felt fun and removed understeer. put the car down craners at 100mph with that set up not so fun.

So they maxed out what they could and fitted shims to the front, as for the roll bat making it feel unstable at high speed then I didn't feel that and have had the car maxed out twice since, but I am no expert on this and with my car still under 3k miles you can also see my time behind the wheel it a lot less than some.
But I do believe that center gravity know what they are doing and I trust what they have done, plus it did transform the way the car felt

what geo settings did you end up with ?So they maxed out what they could and fitted shims to the front, as for the roll bat making it feel unstable at high speed then I didn't feel that and have had the car maxed out twice since, but I am no expert on this and with my car still under 3k miles you can also see my time behind the wheel it a lot less than some.

Looks like a few are disappearing off the shelves now. Gmund advert now gone so assume sold. As is the dark blue one with ceramics at Porsche Wolverhampton (which I also had my eye on when looking for one).
Knew the Gmund car wouldn’t last long— yes it was higher mileage than the others, but it was also a stunning spec...!! And yes— I’m biased— mine is almost identical.... But, being as objective as possible, it still seemed underpriced to me, and significantly under-list....Edited by Swimfinz on Wednesday 21st March 01:56
