'Manuel' aircon works fine as good as climate and it is incorrect you have to constantly alter the settings both winter and summer. I have it on both GT4 and Spyder.
Please advise how you get it to work fine because without an auto button to look after the air flow once the desired temperature is set I'm having to adjust the fan speed to suit. Have read the owners manual and am none the wiser. Genuine question thanks.
Seems strange all I can think of it is perhaps an issue with your particular car in which case maybe your OPC can help?

You know you are right inside Steve. I would leave it at that :-)

Not specing Climate is a reseller trick to max profit come resale and saves you £600.

it's a manual system and thus you have to mess about for the 1st 10 minutes until the cars temps settled.

lucky in the GT3 it's standard to stop this daft nonsense.

In the Spyder it's less of a hassle as I tend to have AC off to max BHP and MPG lol !!! (act I just have the roof off :-) even when parked )

In a coupe the hassle is hot days when you have left the car In the sun so one pisses about with fan and temp settings for 10 minutes.

think your self lucky in a way, I have climate in the golf and the other half turns it off and pisses about with the temps and fan all the time, I get in a cold car and the temp will be at 16oc and max fan from the last time she used it !!! or in winter 28 oc temp !!

Yes but it is still adjusted by passengers in the belief that it will warm up or cool down more quickly!

I don't think any one specs it for that in a Cayman lol we spec it to set and forget.

Correct. Manually pissing about with air-con in a modern £80k car is a complete no-no!

Guys, with regards to climate, don't ever go and buy a Caterham will you! You'd be so out of your death!

Manual air con is fine!

And why I didn't spec (because its only £200 option), is because:

I don't care about the passenger or I would have bought a more comfy car.

I also don't want their different temp messing with my comfort and needs.

It's a drivers car with a spare seat!
no one wants dual zone, but we all want to set temp and forget option.

it's simple really.

Each to their own on air con, but i think this is one of those problems which I believe is more theoretical... I'm going to struggle to explain so go easy - I'm just trying to help.... well I can't believe this is being discuss on the GT4 thread TBH....
Well, I for one thank you for your input and will try your method of using it. Coming from a Cayman R and boxsters prior to that I'm used to selecting temp and then just pressing the auto button to sort it out. Neither of the 987s had 'climate' but each had the auto function. My guess is that some folk when speccing a 981/GT4 didn't realize that to get automatic aircon they needed to spec 2 zone climate even though they didn't want the dual function.

Ooo.... Quite like the look of those for my GT4....!! Buffeting is a proper pain in the arse anything over 50mph....

Are they a simple fit/installation....? And can they be fitted also to a Gen2 GT3, if that is where I’m heading...?? wink

You can just open the passenger window a touch, this eliminates any buffeting created by having just the one window open.

not in my experience, not to a level which is good anyway :-(

one window will implode your brain in 20 seconds, two windows is just slightly better in that your brain does not implode but for me is not workable.
