not in my experience, not to a level which is good anyway :-(

one window will implode your brain in 20 seconds, two windows is just slightly better in that your brain does not implode but for me is not workable.
Same. It helps a bit, but the deflectors take it to another level.

You can just open the passenger window a touch, this eliminates any buffeting created by having just the one window open.
I just do this... plus means i can hear more of the induction and flat-6 orchestra

I think every one is saying it’s a great car at list price new, but I would look into 3rd gear issues when tracked over worrying about engines. Bit of an issue when people were looking to mod these out of warranty. While early cars had splined 3rd gear, 2016 onwards cars had a spot welded cog and under load that fails :-( as more of these cars see the track I think this might become a bigger issue than it already is.

I also see Guard have a full gear set due out so a fix for two issues.
The 3rd gear issue scares the cr*p out of me too. I have an April '16 car, which is apparently in the dodgy batch, and have heard grinding sounds when selecting 3rd gear a couple of times. It's also out of warranty (German reg. car).

Only 3,500 km on the clock, but about to do a trip to South of France so we will see how it handles the next 4,000 km...

I think for cars out of warranty, you'd have a good case to complain and get a new gearbox free of charge.

Re 3rd gear. Know of 1 gt4 that has had 3 new gearboxes. It is a rsr gt4 for track hire at spa and the ring. A known weak spot but how many cars get this hard life day in day out.
When it goes, there is no real risk to the gearbox. They drove the car with no 3rd gear for over 1k km. Porsche have a proper fix now and will look after all gearboxes. Even out of warranty I think there will be no issue. Relax and enjoy the French trip.

I'm looking to have the harnesses fitted to my car. its going in for its first service early August and i could get the OPC to do it then but they reckon its a lot of time/work and would charge £450-£500 labour!

has anyone got experience of this?

I would think most of us have been shafted by OPC labour rates. Take it to your local Indy who will do the same job at half the price.

yeah. they certainly know how to charge.

i was just wondering if it was a do it yourself job or if it really is as difficult as they described.

You could always try diy and see. I’ve done plenty of harnesses with no problem. Perhaps on this car the fixing points are buried and/or you need to move seats, but how hard can it be?

I assume that this is a GT4 with the club sport pack, and you just didn't get the belts fitted for delivery. If that's the case £450+ labour for what should be less than an hour (it's 6 bolts at the end of the day, unless the carpets etc haven't been prepped at PDI (i.e. cut with a stanley knife!) Even so that's extortion as they should have done it during vehicle prep.

I've got a non-clubsport GT4 without the cage but with the 918 seats. Just seen this from BBi Autosport in the USA and wondered if this is all I need to get to be able to fit 6 point harnesses which would be nice to have on track days. Obviously I would also need to get the harnesses.

Thoughts?

no that's just a sub bar for the bucket seat to allow the lower 2 points of a harness.

You will need quite an expensive after market solution to fit full harnesses ie a cage.

either that or you could have a go with the Brey-Krause R-1046 Shoulder Harness Mount.

The issue is on track you really need a hans device if you plan to use 6 point belts imo.

my brain holds way too much car info ;-)

Yes I've got the club sport with all the prep for harnesses. I did think it sounded pretty crazy but they claimed to have just done it for another customer and it was a massive job... i think i will take a look myself, probably give up, and then take it in to someone to do for me. But not Porsche!

They do it for new car owners. If the poster above isn't the original owner of the gt4, it's not entirely surprising that the OPC isn't fitting it foc.
