Nice pics.. what did you think of the car?
Absolutely awesome, so planted and just continued to build my confidence throughout the trip. The one hairpin you can see in the picture, I tried to get the back end out for a bit of fun, but the thing just continued to stick to the road like glue!It was a bit of sensible spirited driving, so I was operating within my limits, rather than the cars, in that respect my old Cayman S is just as capable (for me) and comparable on those roads. But the GT4 is so much more a sense of occasion with the noise, light weight buckets, manual vs PDK (old Cayman S was PDK) etc.
One thing I am thankful for is the brakes. A sheep (it's Wales, so standard here) decided to walk out in front of me, the brakes are good!
I'm definitely thrilled with the car!

Sorry got that wrong, I prefer the National, no hairpin! I just find attacking that the chicane and getting back on the straight hammering toward redgate just flows nicer as it is a quick circuit, the GP you end up with 2 hairpins one after the other taking the pace out of the lap, i really dislike them.
The hairpin at the bottom of the loop is great for skids though!JayK12 said:

Thats a great car and price... I'm shocked it hasn't sold already.
Mileage is likely the reason?
I wouldn't be happy with the bolster wear at 11K miles, I know there buckets but.Mileage is likely the reason?
Anyone see this one at Redline?

Seems good value, but the colour for me isn't great.

Suicide sheep! Where about in Wales are you? Im over in Shropshire so venture out there often, we were out Saturday around Elan Valley.
I'm just outside of Cardiff. Only went up as far as Sennybridge & Llandovery. What a convoy, looks like you had a great run out! I still haven't done the Elan Valley, I've heard good things, hopefully before this summer is out TDT said:
ESC + TC Off whenever you feel brave enough.....you're welcome.
I tried that, still gripped, maybe I was a bit of a wimp on the accelerator DAB964RS said:
Great photos - is your GT4 Voodoo Blue?
Thanks. Yes it is Voodoo Blue. Interestingly I saw a Riviera Blue one at Goodwood, which is a colour I used to love, however, it's definitely no Voodoo - Voodoo FTW. Maybe I am biased Jonny08 said:

Whoever specified your car from new got it spot on, it’s my perfect spec. Glad to see you enjoying the car.
Thanks to TDT, ChrisW, 911R, Boxsey for yesterday, what an awesome day and a really nice bunch of guys!
Really got to see what the GT4 is about, on track I sat with TDT, Chris and someone else.. The 3.8 is for sure, alot more punchy in the mid range than the 3.4 in my GTS, otherwise the characteristics of the engine are similar. The car inspired confidence on the track, its extremely well balanced and you can just lean on those tyres and they just don't let go. The brakes, Steels just took punishment lap after lap and felt really strong, and ChrisW's ceramics where on another level, my organs were trying to escape.
Boxsey took me out on the road and the car is not more hard core than my GTS, you could drive it for miles and miles in it without any issues. The 918 seats very comfortable, i still found them a bit wide for my racing snake physique, especially around my legs, fact i found my standard GTS seat bolsters are more snug on me than the 918 seats. Boxsey was also very kind and gave them the chance to drive the GT4 around the paddock, everything felt so familiar, but instantly noticed the gear shift mechanism is even better than the GTS, what a shift, its heavier, and shorter and feels more mechanical and direct.
The GT4 was really capable on track, sat with a Caterham race driver in a completely bone stock GT4 and it was flying, the tyres were screaming out every bend, yet the car is so predictable, until we over cooked it a bit and took an excursion off road.
I drove my GTS home and its a great car, the manual does not feel as good as the GT4, the rest on the road if i was a passenger doesn't feel worlds apart. However the GT4 would be much quicker and more capable than the GTS on a A/B road and Track no doubt, would it be 25K's worth of difference, its really hard to say. I like more track focused cars for the GT4 package for me is perfect for others it might not be.
Next step for me is to get my GTS on track, will do an evening at Donington and finish of the P-Zeros, but a GT4 WILL BE my next car, its an amazing package, just depends when I make the move!

Yes adding my thanks to TDT for the passenger lap! The GT4 felt way more planted than the 911.2 GTS and even the .2 3rs i was passenger in on the day. The rear engined cars were both trying to break rear traction on the faster corners where as the gt4 was planted! the breaks were also hugely impressive! For sure it seemed like the car to have on the day
I'll post in the dedicated thread also... and i haven't had chance to finish summarising my thoughts yet... but...
WOW..what a day..again!!. I'm just in love with track days right now... Roll on Brands.
@Jay, George (+ Phil, + Harriett) you are all very welcome, very good passengers and I hope you were able to see a little bit of what the car is about, even if my skills leave a bit to be desired still.
Chris, David, Steve - great to see you all again. David - cheers for the quick run out in your lovely GT3. The engine in that thing is like a super bike engine. I NEED one at some point in the future.
As for the GT4 - the car is mega - gives so much confidence and as has been mentioned - its pretty much bomb-proof - can take all the punishment - is totally unstressed and over-engineered - you can just run all day - push as hard as you dare, and it will just keep pounding around even when you as the squishy bit in the cockpit begin to fade.
I decided to run the track precision app for the day to get some insights.... for those of you that haven't tried it... its pretty cool and records all the video and telemetry right on your phone.. you can analyse plots, compare against reference laps - export all the data and video (with overlay and sound) and look at on iPad, or PC using RaceLogic Circuit Tools.
Although timing isn't allowed - had significant improvement though out the day.. had some coaching from Dino Zamparelli who kindly looked at my video and gave me some great pointers on attacking corners harder and was very complimentary about my braking performance and some of my lines.
Finished off with some instruction from Richard Ellis - who i first met at the Silverstone day.. and he was very happy with the progress I've made from that first ever trackday literally 5 weeks ago. No compensation for seat and track time.

Anyone know if the GTS will be ok with a 98db limit, driveby donington is I think?

Recently did a track day at Zandvoort in the GT4 and thought that was my most enjoyable and now favorite track to date, pretty intense as mostly corners but suited the car very well.

A couple of years ago there was a GT4 together at Donington. About 10 cars IIRC and no one failed the 98 db driveby so you should be OK in the GTS. Might be at an evening session in August myself too.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
