GT4 rally testing.

Inevitable moving to GT4 after 996/7, the 991 is just too big.

had a quick look at the OPC list

they are lower for sure , still over list but OPC cars start at £79k with 2 year warranty, so £78k trade bids sounds like fake news to me.

you can buy the yellow one with SC, leather, buckets and PCM for £80k ok miles and only 2 owners.

so dealers are def not paying £81k

As I said when you have PTS viper green car sell sub £85k that's the top end market price for sure and that's PTS in a rare colour.

you can now pick up a fully loaded car for £79k list so a bit less with a haggle.
https://www.redlinespecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/...

that looks the best value car for sale atm, BIG spec, 5k miles sub £80k

GT4 dropped to about £80k fully loaded a year ago, then went to £85k soon after the 991.2GT3, prob failed sales, but they now seem back at £80k again if you want to sell one and not just list one for more. Still at over list then but that puts trade price on the best cars at £72k max. any higher than that or a lower spec is a MASSIVE risk as a buy in. Any one quoting these eye opening trade bids needs to snap their hands off ! imo of course, :-)

So no big drops and no big rises, just a swing of £5k over the last 2 years it seems, but as we know the cycle, the next GT4 will see a lot more GT4's at OPC as part ex's that's a given, if the specs/engines right people will be trading in at quite low trade in's to secure cars over the next man. Only way for the normal none VIP none Macan buying punter to get a car will be deals on part ex GT4 at very favourable prices, that has a knock on effect on the resale price , ie offer the car in at £65k to secure the new one, OPC adds £10k and knocks it out for £75k for a quick sale in the rush and hype and a flood of cars.

any org owners who still have 1 owner cars are still laughing, 3 to 4 year old cars can prob sell private at list, so a free car for the last 3 + years.

I agree. Might be tempted to pick up a 981 GT4 next year with low mileage and keep for many years on Porsche Warranty. Not really to make any money....purely because I love the things

I phoned my dealer today to ask about expected delivery on a new Porsche i've ordered, and after a while we broached the subject on Porsche GT cars true values..991.2 GT3 are selling for about £160K+ if the right spec, no difference between manual or PDK as most used buyers want PDK which tallies with the new GT3s ordered. The 991.2 RS are selling for about £270K+ and the GT2 RS going for £450K+.
He also mentioned that if buying a GT4 in for showroom stock without a p/x involved they would need to get it for less than list new..Higher mileage GT4s would be a good few grand less the list due to the predicted slow down this autumn..
Please don't shoot the messenger as he's a rather weak sensitive soul...

I just picked up a GT4 with a great spec from an OPC. Cost me over 85, but I don't really care.

In a couple of weeks I've done more miles than the last "owner" did in 18 months and yesterday it did about 50 laps of Oulton.

If it's going to lose money, it won't be as much as a new BMAudicedes.

I'm glad I can just get on with enjoying the thing.
Nice to see one being bought to use as the maker intended..Bear in mind that when GT4s were specced new the list price varied from £65K basic spec all the way to £85K for a top spec car with Clubsport, PCCBs and every other box ticked.
You might not have paid much more than it cost new if its a fully specced car..

Yep… buy well, get out and use it, and then post your experiences and pics here.

Good for you. I was at Silverstone on Monday in mine, and good to see 3 others there being used as intended.

I was at Silverstone on Monday - loved seeing that CSR car and also it was great to see so many Porsches being used as intended. I was in the little Audi S1 - It was a laugh but too slow for that track!

blown it all up...

nah.. just wondering of the cost of upkeeping the engine vs a mezger unit. From what I know re-building a mezger unit is more costly than buying a brand new GT4 engine.

When I was converting my 3.4L Cayman to 3.8L in early 2015, an exchange 3.8L was c£12k including VAT. This was for a "full" engine without ancillaries.

Noticed some GT4s do not have Chrono, would have thought that was standard, can you still use the track app with no Chrono?

agree with all of what you say. simple fact is lots and lots of choice now for sportscars/ touring cars / supercars. A certain percentage of buyers at £80k wont buy a 2nd hand car that's 3 yrs old.

I fancy a Gt4 but am of mind to wait for the delivery of the first new gt4s before I buy a 981. I don't mind having last years discarded toy hehe

the market has softened no question about it. Some classics like Testarossas are actually significantly down from 12 months ago.
I think people are beginning to realise New Vantage at £125k+ spec maybe £140,000 and McLaren 570s easily specified up to £170,000 is highly likely to see big drops.

I think the AMG GTR is now losing its initial 12 month shine and some cars are available below list.

having made all that argument above the GT4 is actually still good value smile

Don't think you can. But think I saw on here you can have SportChrono retro-fitted (about £1200?). Or I you could use Harry's Lap Timer with a box of tricks that plugs into the diagnostic port and feeds all the data in for revs, gear, g, throttle and brake postions, steering angle, wheel slip, etc. This would be a lot cheaper, although have more wires hanging out of the dashboard.

£1200 probably buys you a very nice VBox system.

What does Chrono give you on the GT4, same as the GTS?
