I’ve just bought another GT4 CS this week, having sold the old one in September last year.
The new model will have an impact on desirability as people naturally lean towards the latest and greatest, evidenced by the GT3. I was shopping around with up to £80k to spend and i really can’t see how you’ll get better value for money than a 981 GT4 in that price range. Assuming you buy well there shouldn’t really be more than £5-10k at stake in depreciation over the next 18 months. The well spec’d 718 GT4’s will be trading c.£100k so it’s a big enough gap. They’ll be competing more with the 991.1 gt3 in my opinion.
I think you want to be buying a well spec’d 981 GT4 with low miles for mid to late 70’s and then you’ll be fine. These cars aren’t going to start dropping to £60k any time soon!
That’s a gamble I think , imo we will see good spec cars at £65k this year. I think 718 F6 could end up like 987 Cayman R and Spyder a stock car with big discounts to shift stocks or unsold new car slots. It happened in 2011 and can easily repeat soon now the 718 F6’s are regular production cars, no longer lightweight and even have rear parking sensors Edited by Porsche911R on Saturday 22 June 13:37

Will new 718 gt4 cars trade above 100k for a short while? The only ones who care about this are in it for the money not the ownership experience. If it suffers normal levels of depreciation and you can drive it daily surely a car enthusiast would be happy with that as it looks to be an epic car IMO for its price point at retail.
Carzana suggests it is this car

Grade 3 car direct from UKCG (We buy any car). Now entered in Brighouse Yorkshire this Monday 24th.
Some paint chips to the front.
Fairly basic spec around £69k list, plastic dash, no extended leather and no nav probably explains why it's been traded.
Should be good value ££.

So, no PDK, not numbers-limited, no significant performance increase and muted soundtrack?! I can see existing GT4 owners holding on to theirs and waiting for the (many!) used GT3 used values to reach a sweet spot...……...
GT3 different car different price different customer base. And the 992 GT3 wont arrive until late 2021.

Non limited but restricted.

Lol just like all GT Porsches since the 997 then.
Non limited but restricted.
Although since then the numbers have actually crept up quite a bit have they not ??Non limited but restricted.
I'm sure Porsche UK at least will maintain they're still quite limited, but I can see quite a few more people getting 'the call' this time round which is what AP said they wanted I think :
Quote - 'One thing we learned from the last GT4 is a lot of people couldn't get one. Now we're really proud enthusiasts can buy the car, rather than write letters. We're not limited in any way, we will have a longer production run than before, and we wanted to keep it in the same price range.'

It's great that the right people supporting the brand may be able to get a car and good luck to them but to think anyone will be able to walk into a UK OPC and just order one like some are claiming is plainly ridiculous.
And to put the increased numbers thing into perspective there are 'only' around 1200 odd 458 Ferraris (Italia and Spyder) in the UK. Seen as a relatively rare car and residual pricing confirms this also much more exclusive and with a much higher price point both back then and now than a 'halo' 718.

Your comment regards to the 458 is pointless as there are a number of different models which fall under that 1200 odd figure.
Harking back to the original thread title, there are now 15 for sale on AutoTrader and the average price is now circa £70k. Considering the 981GTS average price is now £50k, I think the 981GT4 will certainly hit mid to low 60’s by year end.
If Brexit results in a 10% tax on new cars, then (based on a preemo 718GT4 spec being 90k), an extra £9k, make it a £100k car, and for the 981GT4 suddenly looks like a great deal.
Therefore I think the 981GT4 will hit £60k and in time start to rise again.

Porsche isn’t stupid they will build as many halo cars as the market demands and they have now had time to prepare their business for this demand.
I agree Porsche are not stupid. Far from it. And the masters of marketing. And this is exactly why they definitely WON'T build as many halo cars as the market demands as to do so would result in brand dilution which is the last thing a very successful business such as Porsche wants.

On PH, GT4s range from £70k to £85, GTSs from £50k to £55k.I think your quoted average prices are a little low, and given how few 718 GT4s are due this year I can't see 981 prices moving much in the immediate future.

How do you make the average 70k, when there are no cars below that figure? If Brexit results in a 10% tax on new cars, then (based on a preemo 718GT4 spec being 90k), an extra £9k, make it a £100k car, and for the 981GT4 suddenly looks like a great deal.

Our GT4 wannabe friend is not keen on actual statistics. There are 10 on the OPC locator today (which is what this thread was started about). That's 2 less than last month. The average price is £77,770. Down £3,427 on last month (which is easily the biggest drop over the last six months and most likely caused by 718 GT4 news). Average mileage is 10,013. The cheapest car is a 30,000 miler at South London.
I've got to take the R into South London this week, so will take a lookGT4RS said:
Just by looking quickly at piston heads you can see the average asking price of a used 981 gt4 is 78k to 80k.
Because of you call them up, most are willing to cut a deal at 70k. Advertised price is what they want, not what they get. As a previous poster said the price has dropped 4K in a month. Expect them to hit 60k by year end. Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
