12 GT4's for sale on PistonHeads and growing
Discussion
Was also politely challenging why some (not us PH'ers of course) bought the GT4 - in the hope they could make money or drive free etc (whatever your interpretation is).
When the cars are owned by those enthusiasts - then the market will stabilise / mature.
It may take the Gen 2 to do that. I always said and believe that the Gen 1 GT4's value will not be properly recognised until it's maybe 10 years old. But I do think the gearbox ratio's need fixing

Even at £69.999 for a nice CS spec gt4 with sensible miles is good value compared to other GT asking prices, if the GT4 drops to 50k something you will see a big hit across the whole used GT range imo by the same % drop.
Different model Porsche GTs do not depreciate at the same rate percentage wise.woollyjoe said:

nice if you can fix it easy , but the 2nd gear seems fixed, I am no engineer, but it don't seem easy to fix ! you can swap 3rd, 4th 5th etc but imo that's no help.or you can buy a short final drive at 20% less but imo that's too much of a drop.
You would also want a remap to release the torque the 4.0l can give.
the PDK GT4 will just sit pretty much right, 74 in 2nd 103 in 3rd, should feel great. over 86 in 2nd and 120 odd in 3rd !

For road use... New CR&P and potentially looking at new 6th cog for cruising. waiting on some life events to work out before RPM Technik and I take this on and more. or you can buy a short final drive at 20% less but imo that's too much of a drop.

but it drops it too low and on even numbers wears out faster.I guess it would be guard built any way. but a bespoke one would work but imo the UK are not a big enough to mod cars to get the costs back.
people don't even fit non N spec tyres as an example, very few would have the gearing swapped.
maybe sell 30 units at best.

You shouldn't lose much on a 911 GTS.
I made money on both of mine and one sale was back to the dealer.
Great cars
How ? I got a 3k discount on mine ,barely had it and still lost 5k selling it back to Porsche .I made money on both of mine and one sale was back to the dealer.
Great cars
I also know 2 people just got out of 991.2 GTS both £20k down in 12 months.
loads of cars about and dealers want min 8% to max 20% no way can you break even, let alone make money.
You're going to lose on any non GT car.
I noticed a 991.1 GTS is worth barely any less than the 991.2 - a sign people still would rather go for naturally aspirated. But with two gens around, there's quite a few around and - at the price point with options ticked - you have the internal competition of a 'real' Turbo and GT3s are a similar price point but retain their value.

Time to buy big BMW's
Funny you say that as i went round in circles for many months on Porsche models of which i've already owned 10 variants (mainly GT cars) and ended up picking up a manual M2 and gotta say i'm loving it.Maybe i should leave this thread now ..........

Both of mine were used, not new... Sold my 991.1 back to your dealer for 2k more than I paid for it at Reading. Had it for about 7 months.Bought a used GT4 from them.
Then bought a 991.2 GTS from Newcastle for 89k and sold it to a private buyer for 92k. Its now for sale at 86k and has been since October last year.
Did you buy yours to help with a GT3 allocation? If so you'd expect to lose money.

I’m aware there a difference between asking prices and values, but still the delta is small. God knows where this all ends up.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha I really enjoy reading all your comments and it makes me think either it’s a dick measuring contest to see who knows the future or you all need to get out a bit more. Personally I bought my GT4 in March this year to keep. Red Clubsport 2700 miles £80k. Will it lose money? Yes Will we leave the EU? Yes Is Boris nuts but you can’t help love him! Yes. I know you all like to put ya point over but come on sometimes you sound a bit silly.
So keep up the good work and keeping us all entertained
Love to you all.

Not sure if you’re being ironic on purpose or accidentally.
“Dick measuring contest to see who knows the future” or we “all need to get out more”. Then you go and predict the future?!?!?!
Are we to assume that’s your entry to the competition?
I’ll be honest. You love Boris so I’m not sure telling others they sound silly carries weight. Or length or girth for that matter.
I have to say this ranks as one of the most puzzling responses I’ve read in a while. Like a cry for help or something.
If I’d sold my 996 GT3 only 2 vehicles I think I would like (currently under £75k) to own are;

For what looks a great price and great spec to me.
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
For being a rare clubbie colour.
For me, leather dash, xenons, buckets, upgraded hifi, little bit or carbon are a must with Clubsport being the icing on the cake.
Looking at the 981 and 718, putting what Porsche have done to engine and chassis to one side - the 981 looks a better car (IMO), the rear exhaust look better being further apart and I’m not a big fan of the 718 black strip around the rear.
Never driven one or been in one but I guess it will be comparable to my 996.1 K400, I’ll own one at some point hopefully.
