What we need is something relatively easy to bolt on to quieten the GT4 exhaust down for track days. If your friend can do that, there will be plenty of us that will buy it. smile
Steve, are you around Donnington on Thursday 1st ??

Direct comparisons on noise are a real issue, but there is every indication that mine is now quieter ... and breathes better.

You would be welcome to try it ... smile
Who is running the trackday on the 1st Chris? I might be tempted...

Anyone felt the desire to tune their 981 gt4/spyder now that warranties are running out? I have been running the IPD Competition Plenum & COBB Tuning Accessport V3 along with the K&N air filters on mine for nearly a year now. Absolutely love the extra power and induction noise, but as the car is going up for sale to make way for a 991.2 GT3, I'm looking to move the parts on. PM me with sensible offers.

Edited to add: If you are based in / near London, I might even be persuaded to come and help you fit them. I did the install myself in around an hour and a half. Removing took 45min. It's not hard, and its a mega transformation!

Does the IPD fit the 3.4 engine do you know? I'm running "Stage 2" on my Cayman S already just not got the IPD/throttle body which isn't needed but apparently can add extra.

Yes, it does. You need to fit the (supplied) AC bracket bolt to make it a nice neat fit.

Back on topic...................

Is a car without Navigation (but with phone prep) a mistake? My thoughts are the nav system is old and a few years time will be outdated compared to what's available. Most seem to use better third party devices given these contain speed camera info so nav delete shouldn't be an issue?

Nav was expensive when new, I didn't spec it for my GTS. I much prefer Google maps with live updates anyway, so for me it's not a problem - I use my phone and an air vent cradle. However, most buyers seem to want PCM Nav even if better options are available.

A GT4 of reasonable spec but without Nav is a hard sell as most buyers want Nav despite its drawbacks.

The newer the car the more desirable is the Nav in general terms.

If you are buying the car as a long term keeper for say in excess of 5 years the absence of Nav becomes less significant with age. But if you have to sell it again in the short to medium terms be prepared for a price hit.

But the car should be quite a bit cheaper to buy probably in the region of £4k to £5k compared to one with Nav.

^^^ Thanks. That was my thinking given the fact the PCM unit has been around since c2012 and is way out of day, not helped by the fact any map udates are more than the cost of a decent TomTom

£4/5k cheaper what a load of bull! A car of the pre 2016 type pcm should not be an issue on resale basically it’s crap! I would say perhaps a £1k price difference if any! Plenty of takers a few years ago when I sold mine without pcm and when I sold my 987.2 Spyder with pcm(same system as gt4)it made no difference to the price. My car was specd with ssp which is everything bar the maps software so can be easily retro fitted for about £1k.
A gt4 should have buckets of choice and leather to dash and blue tooth as the essentials, personally nothing else brings any extra value to the car only for those who like to over spec.
A good spec. 718gt4 is about £82k new so anything above will not make the car worth anymore when 3 years old!

Sat Nav can be retro fit for c£4k as it requires a complete new PCM unit so I'm not sure where you get the £1k from?

Email sent. I remember chatting after you had the mods fitted and some side by side runs near Anglesey circuit last year, mine was the red one.

That's if you don't have sound package plus, if you have spp you get the PCM unit but not the maps and nav. software.
But that is beside the point a car with nav is not worth £4K more than one without, and to add the position of the screen in the 981 is also poor.
I would rather take a car that has dab and no PCM, dab was extra with PCM but free with spp.
Now the better newer 718 nav. is worth having but that now comes free so makes odds to second hand values.

Ask any OPC trade buyer about trying to sell a 981 GT4 or Spyder without Nav and they will confirm the £4k difference.

Ok it's not impossible to sell either without Nav but the market generally demands it fact. Plus any car without it has proved to be hard work.

We have seen numerous cases of this with cars for sale since 2015.

Reference to much older 987s selling without Nav is irrelevant to the 981 as I said as cars get older it is of less significance clearly.

I disagree ...

I had Nav in an RS3, didn't fit Nav to my GT4, 'have a truckers Tom Tom with live traffic, ... and very much prefer my iPhone ... Nav must be the very worst way to make the car feel prematurely "classic" ... I would say at the reputed £4k, that's very poor value ...

When I sold my spyder it was the same age as most 981 gt4s are now with the same dated system!
Going forward most buyers of 981 gt4/spyder won't give a monkeys if it has PCM it will be all about key extras ie buckets and leather, condition, number of owners and mileage and of course price. If a non nav. car IS £4/5k cheaper than similar car with PCM then it's a bargain!

I would happily take a £4K discount and ditch the nav! I much prefer using My phone or a TomTom.

We've discussed all this before on numerous occasions.

It's all very well those who perhaps didn't spec nav saying they don't need it and there are other systems available which are better and far cheaper. That's fine from their individual point of view but there is no denying as we have seen numerous with cars for sale, the general market demands nav and those cars without it struggle to sell even at lower prices.

It's a similar no brainer optional extra price wise to bucket seats in a GT4 (or even more important in a GT3). Cars without these are worth considerably less and are difficult to sell as we have seen time and time again, simply because the majority of buyers want these as an extra.
