Congratulations defenderd. Looks lovely.

I'd suggest https://www.specialisedcovers.com/stormshield-plus...

If you ring them up, they'll send you some samples. I had to buy one for a black GT3 I had when I lived in London. There was a building site 1/2 mile away and the amount of muck that drifted over was insane. I was pleased with it for that purpose but it sounds like you know the pros/cons of using one. I did find it a pain in the backside to keep clean on the inside and it's best taken on and off with two people for this reason.
Thanks for this, I will probably get one of these and will just have to be really careful.

Congratulations on the car - sure you'll have a great time with it.

You mention the car has PPF on it. If it's all over the car then I wouldn't worry about the cover too much as you're only damaging the PPF rather than the paint. If it's not all over, then maybe PPF the other bits.

And on the stickers - I like the side ones but not bonned and roof FWIW.

This smashed up example is back up!

Written off on the way home from OPC on day one of ownership.
Salvaged, repaired and only 400 miles still and one owner HPI clear still.

The lying crook tries to sell once in a while. Keeps getting rumbled though!

And fails to mention the crash in the advert.

I'm assuming it was registered as being crashed ?

The insurance company labeled it CAT C and paid the genuine 1st owner out in full.
(He only owned it a few hours after collecting new from OPC)

Insurance companies don’t HAVE to register the categorisation with HPI, so some don’t.

If they fail to register with HPI, the cars are sold as salvage, but fetch WAY more money, as ‘Unclassified’

Insurance company gets more money back against to offset their losses.

It’s why some very badly damaged cars are CATC, not CATB.

It’s a racket.

Exactly that happened to me. Bought a car in good faith, HPI checked it with reg number and chassis number and car was all clear. Went to sell the car a few years later and it then came up as a 'category car'!

Aviva didn't register it until years after the accident, presumably to sell for more at the time of the claim.

A bit of a mystery as upon investigation it only had had very minor damage.

So how does one check if the car they are buying has had a prang ?

https://www.vcheck.uk/

This was set up by a forum member to fill in all the cracks, that the shady corners of the motor trade like to exploit.
Salvage, service and taxi data is included in the reports, so it doesn’t just rely on the voluntary HPI database.
10% of written off cars have clear HPI apparently frown

Are you saying this is the white car that’s now up for sale ?

No, not at all, just thought that it looked GT4 and therefore relevant to the thread....and white...maybe the white ones are a bit skiddy?

That doesn’t look like a GT4 tyre and if I remember correctly the white GT4 crashed on a motorway slipnread.

The level of knowledge on the history of this model is commendable. Then again there aren't that many about.

ETA: The GR red 6k car Pure Cars have up on AutoTrader looks good value @£69k given the spec. Surprised it's not gone.

Some sort of winter tyre perhaps?

Yes, the one re-advertised was crashed by a friend of the owner, after he let him have a go on collection day.
Down the lorry park slip(y) road, sideways into the dual carriageway, and under the Armco on the central divide. Big mess!
