Does have any knowledge of the quantity of cars made in each colour . Preferably 2.9 manual .

In the position to buy and ideally want one in guards red or speed yellow but want to know how many were made compared to the monochrome colours . " the only ones I've seen for sale have been monochrome and want to know if I need to relax my colour criteria if the red / yellow are like hens teeth "

I've just bought a 2.9 manual in "resale" silver. Would rather have had black, aqua blue or guards red but ultimately put price/mileage/warranty/condition of car ahead of colour. I did come across 2 red examples but both were more than I wanted to pay. Didn't see a single yellow one so they must be rare!

Quite rare finds in Guards red and Speed Yellow - both were base colours when new. Possibly the best colours too.

I had a 2.9 in Nordic Gold (the only one in existence in the UK, I believe)! Looked amazing.

In my view the 987 Cayman needs a bright/interesting colour to look "right". Even Aqua Blue is a bit "meh".

My 2.9 is Guards, but many when I was looking were black, grey, silver or white.

Although imagine taking delivery of a bright red Porsche in the heart of the financial meltdown...!

I had one of the last ones made a brand new 2012 in Platinum Silver metallic, it looked almost gold under some lighting conditions.

Traded it in after six months with only 1700 miles on it to buy the new model,

I only got £30.000 trade in, the way used car prices have gone it would be worth that today

That looks fantastic , the nicest colour I've seen on a Cayman and I think your right , they look best in the brighter colours. I'm going to have to wait it out I think .

My 987 is red too, when I first showed it to a mate he commented that it looked a bit flash...a red Porsche flash surley not.

OP if its Guards you have your heart set on hang on for one its worth the wait 987's look really nice in red.

Only downside to Guards Red compared to grey/silver is that you need to keep it clean or it really shows!
