My loan car today was a Boxster 981 2.7 with PSE.

What a constant drone at 1600 - 3000 RPM! Gave me a headache after some dual carriageway/motorway driving. Roof up all the time.

Blasting away from the lights with the windows open gave a momentary spurt of fun loudness, but I think I'd soon tire of it.

Boys' toys I guess, and I'm no longer one.
Yes, I have a Cayman 981 2.7 WITHOUT PSE. I feel having a little switch that makes extra noise is a little childish. But I am 43 years old and very cynical about most things in life nowadays biglaugh

You can't remove the mechanical connections between the steering wheel and wheels and expect it to have the same
They didn't, I think you may have misunderstood how EPAS works....

You're correct. I had no idea how it works, and I should have read about it first before making assumptions based on the feel.

Now I understand that it's the electrical assist motor that robs the feel, but there is still a rack and pinion connection. Thanks. I guess we'll have true drive-by-wire steering to look forward to in the future.

I don't think it's fair to say that 987-981 is similar to 981-718.

I prefer the 987 to the 981, but the differences are tiny compared to the change involved in taking away the F6 and chucking in a F4t.

Have to say, (only based on video so far) that I don't like the sound.

Only time will tell if they sell enough but I wonder if it will put some buyers off. I know it would put me off.
