That is a nice one, worth the asking I think if everything else checks out. Bit of a unicorn spec? I wonder if the brakes have been done as well.?julian987R said:

The ad says official Porsche launch car
Aren't they saying it is the launch colour as it comes of the sentence about the colour. I think that is what they mean to sayhttps://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Oh well found! very good. That said, I wonder how appealing a PCM and ACC delete R really is?
If it had AC and Radio I would of potentially been buying it today, no way I want a car with no AC or radio, two things I use more or less daily in a car, otherwise it is a stunning example especially having ceramics, as they make such a positive difference in looks, lack of dust, lack of weight but I've always found them far superior to the tiny steels the cars came with stock.julian987R said:
that isn't very appealing is it, an R that has been tracked probably heavily.
You what?So by your logic every GT3 and RS car must be poor examples, seriously grow up.
If there is something Porsche do well, that is their cars ability to drive to a circuit, be pounded all day and drive home. What matters is service history and maintenance, most Porsches see track work, especially the more track orientated models which an R, GT3, RS are and are they any worse for it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
By your logic all GT3's are not appealing yet they seem to sell and swap hands on a regular basis.
Also as this car is on ceramics, if they are original and in good condition then the car has seen quite an easy life as track work will wear these earlier generation ceramics somewhat, though not as much as in the GT cars as the Cayman/Boxster lack of weight did mean even these early ceramics could handle track work quite well.
He didn’t say that though did he , by your logic the more an individual car is tracked the more desirable it becomes ? That’s simply not the case , people regularly put “never tracked” because they know a heavily tracked car is not particularly appealing to buyers ,
Yes the cars are built for it (to a degree) and in this case any buyer should do his due diligence and find out the history. But anyone that thinks that track work is not harder on a car than a weekend toy is wrong, also upgraded clutch was done for a reason, it’s been used hard, and that’s fine but if you asked companies like 911v if this makes the car more desirable they would tell you the truth and it’s people a no

I think you’re looking at extremities here.
What I think is being said is that a car that’s seen a track shouldn’t be written off as a bag of spanners.
Likewise a mothballed garage queen with brittle rubbers, hard seals and square tyres should also be given the same consideration when buying.
Just because a car has been on track shouldn’t mean it’s less desirable. I mean, what’s the point of owning a more focussed Porsche if you have no intention of experiencing it.
I guess the lighter doors will mean the tyres don’t flat spot as quickly when doing “dust durability” testing in the garage.

Back on "track" so to speak I know when I was looking, both PCM & AC were a must, weight saving sounds good on paper but the saving is irrelevant to most and definitely of no benefit to my driving.
I would say there is more appetite from a possible purchaser that a car has the PCM / AC than not, but there is always a buyer out there at the right price.
Anyway, looks a good car and as someone mentioned above, it is very likely to have been well looked after and will be a good buy for someone.
