Any nice privately owned cars for sale under £40k please send me a PM.

Mileage not really a concern (preferably not in excess of 100k) but would like manual, buckets and not white.

Cheers, Hugh

When I open my passenger door I always notice that water has ingressed the sill where the logo is along that piece. But drivers side never.
Strangely I had same observation with my 944T and wondered could it be either that I push the wing mirror in and rain is finding its way in onto that sill? god know how though.....or is it that that the Drivers of the car is always parked pavement side, and that cars passing are kicking up water and it is hitting that passenger side more?

Anyone else ever notice this outcome?
Any takers? much appreciated in advance.
Your post implies that your car is out in the rain, and thus outside. Cayman R's which are left outside are worth significantly less than garaged ones. Indeed, some forecasts have them being worth £25-30k less than a garaged example. Rear wipers are seen as evidence of a car being an "outdoor" example and buyers either avoid these or make an automatic price deduction. It is thought by 2030 outdoor cars will be worth a similar amount to their Corgi equivalent.

Open your doors. Observe where weather seals are. Observe where water is. If water has passed a weather seal to get there, investigate. If it hasn't, close door and go back to getting excited about the cars value as clearly nothing else matters. Alternatively, set yourself a challenge of going a week without posting anything on what you think these cars are worth. thumbup

I too am in the market for such a car but don't think "wanted" posts are allowed on here so I resorted to Facebook group etc...Not much out there that's 40k+ miles that might be worth below £40k but I've got my eyes peeled..

It is a good reply, but in all seriousness how do you think that water is coming in? one side always dry, the other seems to hold rain water.

May be its the rain getting in causes the water!

Standard test is to get a sheet of paper (normal A4 printer paper, torn into strips is ideal) and check that the seal grips the paper when the door is shut. Might not have perished, but may have ended up a little mis-shaped.

Water is very awkward stuff. Tends not to travel upwards, unless it finds a small gap, at which point it genuinely cannot help itself. Hope you manage to find where it's getting in!

I have never noticed this with mine. But mine lives in the garage and I avoid using it in the wet so not a great comparison.

However, based on what you have described, my bet would be that the camber of the road where you park is likely to be causing the difference between passenger and drivers side. Some water would pool against the inner sill if the car is not level, or at least the angle would be just enough for it not to run out from under the door .

For those looking out for a perfect spec manual car, mine's coming up for auction on collecting cars, listing in the 'Coming Soon' section.

Lovely R, good luck with the sale.
This button on the left, I don't think I have, what does that do on a R with a fixed wing?

Looks like it's had Sport Chrono retrofitted but with an S switchback instead of the R one.

Surely if it had been retrofitted by OPC or Indy it would have the correct activation button?

You would have thought so! I didn't even realise it, but Ian's right. It was retrofitted at RPM Technik when I bought it and that's what was fitted. All works fine but that button doesn't do anything.
