Wonder if that will change if this proves to be true....?? One thing I miss about my 987.2 Spyder was the relatively “low” road tax....!! (And decent fuel consumption).... The GT4 is financially crippling, in terms of both road tax and fuel economy...!!https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/porsch...

Appreciate this isn’t the most exciting CR update but I think it’s worthy.....
Anyone else replaced the annoying discoloured protective strips on the door shuts and inside the boot??? Just like my 997 GTS previously the strips on the R were also discoloured and looked crap so I’ve just replaced them and think they look a lot better!
Looks good, any more info on this chap? I need to replace mine. Where do I find them pleaseAnyone else replaced the annoying discoloured protective strips on the door shuts and inside the boot??? Both door and boot pieces are available from OPC with the following part numbers:996.537.237.00 - PROTECTIVE FOIL
987.512.819.00 - PROTECTIVE FOIL
Think all in they were around £25 - £30.

There are obviously the 2 large rear arch pieces also but mine were replaced when I bought it.
Took the CR along to the evo track session last week and it performed wonderfully, as always. The Pagid RS29 pads certainly impressed - very different pedal feel to the old Porsche pads, although that might just be because discs and pads are brand new, and I was running old and worn brakes before!
The squealing seems to be intermittent, and only when braking softly, medium pressure upwards, road or track, doesn't produce any unwanted noise. But if these pads perform and last as long as everyone has told me they will, I'll happily put up with a bit of squeal once in a while.
Good selection of cars on show, including Richard Tipper's black Cayman R, which looked very good parked up next to mine before the fun started.
Evo had a 718 GTS there, so I couldn't resist taking a couple of pics next to it - love the colour, but still can't love that engine.
And finally, there's a pic I took Monday morning after washing all the track grime off the car. I'm always surprised just how good Guards Red looks in the sun :-)

Looks fantastic, did you get a chance to sit with the 718 on track? quick i bet even if the sound isnt to everyones taste.
Washing mine tonight ready for a big road trip this weekend. Cant wait
Didn't find myself out at the same time, but I'd never question the performance and handling ability of the 718, just its character. Washing mine tonight ready for a big road trip this weekend. Cant wait
It's an undoubtedly accomplished sports car, but the competition is stiff in the sector without the flat-six to differentiate it. Actually quite keen to take the new Alpine out for a spin - I think now that the Cayman is a four-pot, it could make quite a case for itself as long as you're not hung up on badges.
Where are you heading on the road trip?

Personally not a brand snob at all. Still my favourite car ive ever owned pound for pound was a Renaultsport Clio 182. I covered 84k miles in it and never ever once did it break or let me down. I just serviced it and looked after it. Lost count of the amount of trackdays and ring trips it did as well as being my daily. I digress, i think with the way modern cars are going (smaller capacity, morer efficient, faster etc) the R becomes are more special drive by the day and certainly more special every time i turn the key

Oooh, do let me know how that goes. Edited by frayz on Wednesday 16th May 12:57
Planning on doing a road trip with cmoose, V800MJH and a few others in the summer. Was thinking Wales for a couple of days, but Isle of Man could be a great shout.
I want details and lots of pictures, please :-)
