I wouldn't even sell mine for £50k either!!

Right here right now it would probably take £60k to sway me. Because there would be nothing I could directly replace it with which would be as good. A lotus isn't in my opinion.

A GT3 is all that would get me out of my R... even that would take some serious thought as no matter how much i pine for one still.
All the 996/997s that ive driven ive still prefered my R when getting back in it.

best all round fun usable drivers car hence why I have had 2 :-)

had a GT3 sold it for a R, had a GT4 bought another R.

great cars for sure.

we have a nice little following now imo over the bullst I read on other models :-)

Whilst I do like Elise / Exige being 6ft4 means I have to fall out of them to get out and then go to physio for related injuries! LOL

I would still be severely tempted by a 997.2 GT3 Clubsport but alas they are now silly ££££££

Besides, as a 'road car' the R is possibly 90% of the fun at les than 1/2 price

R is the better Road car still imo. unless you invest in GT3 mods,

I like the 997.2 GT3 CS but it would need the 4.0 final drive, set of passive shocks and LWF, while I am in there a guards diff.
A project I have thought about, but then I think the 997.2 GTS with passive shocks and lwfly little duck tail at £45k cheaper a better road car.

GT3 are great if you have Spa in your back yard. not so great on the A4069 :-)

might do a 997.2 GTS project soon with RPM this looks great imo and the engine and gear box are good out the box.

There's a few on AutoTrader...
2 one with 40k miles and 1 with no AC :-)
That's the point. None of them have the correct spec which for me is:
Ideally white, Manual, Buckets, PSE, AC.

Both the white ones don't have AC despite the spec listed. You can see it on the pictures.

Try an Evora. I bought a 410 sport over a GT4 it's on another rung of the ladder to an R. The steering is class leading. The 410 is a pretty special car only 25 of them. Sadly my particular car was new and came with a few typically Lotus quality control issues but as a package it's an amazing car completely underrated but dynamically it's more GT car level.

The 430 and new gt410 are overpriced really but the dealers have a lot of wiggle room.

I'd recommend buying a meticulously inspected used car over new or at least don't sign anything until you have gone over a new one foresically to make sure it's right.

Even then what do you buy to replace it with? They drive great and look amazing, even in expensive company....

Glad to see you’ve put that Audi in it’s place biggrin I’m betting you’ve had as many positive comments as me over the last few weeks on colour choice?

In terms of putting the Audi in it's place....well lets just say that the Lambo Performante isn't just fast, it looks like it teleports from point to point,
a seriously fast carclap

With regards colour, yes it has been very popular when attending various car related events, I'm really chuffed with it and so glad i took the impulsive action of jumping straight on it when it came up for sale. I'd ordinarily take a more cautious approach to spending that kind of money but sometimes you can miss out and regret not being more bold, this time being bold has worked out, the car is fantastic.

Oh and that reminds me, i tried putting a CD in the other day and found to my surprise that there was one left in there,so Kev if you want your ministry of sound CD back ping me a PMthumbup

A question for 'R' owners. Has anyone actually got a real world weight for their car ?

The reason I ask is I'd like to put my Gen 2 S on a bit of a diet, recently at Centre Gravity my car weighed in at 1389 kg with half a tank of fuel. I'd like to try and get it down by at least 100 kilos, obviously doors are steel on my car but expensive to replace to the ali doors on an R so I will probably leave as is, sports seats are heavy and they will be going for some aftermarket lighter items, probably Recaro Pole positions or some Tillett carbon items.

Other bits I am thinking of changing to are:

Carbon rear hatch and lexan rear window
Carbon interior door cards
Lightweight battery (voltphreaks)
Lightweight fly wheel
Remove some sound deadening and front boot plastic trim, AC and PCM will be staying however.

So the 'R' weight is a bit of a target hence the question. Thanks

I cannot believe how attractive these are.... I took mine to “Porsche in the glen” event in may and had 2 guys wanting to buy. Also had the car serviced at local opc and call soon after seeing if I would sell to the dealer.

£ for £ I don’t know what I could replace with. I’m thinking of scratching a Mclaren itch

Last time mine was at Centre Gravity it was weighed at 1326kg with 3/8s of a tank of fuel.

Thanks so there is roughly 60 kilos difference between an S and an R so 100 kilo loss shouldn't be too hard off mine I reckon.

Enjoy the CD and I think it’s the best Cayman R in the country.
Definitely one of the best cars I owned but a 964 came up and I was desperate to modify something!
All the best and look after it, a total one off!
Cheers
