Hi Josh.
I looked at the Ashgood R today. It looks well looked after, the condition of bodywork is good and I'd say its had some new aircon rads very recently. The interior is in fairly good condition as well with only slight wear to the driver's seat stitching, the seatbelts and door pulls could do with a clean, something I'm sure Ashwood would do given their reputation. Unfortunately, this car made me realise that I need the carbon buckets and a manual. I still reckon the cars represents good value, even with the high mileage.
P.s Hi all, first post on the PH forums, (RS246 and Cliosport.net were some of my previous/current haunts). Having rented a 718 Cayman for the NC500 a few months ago I'm now hooked.
I met Ian964 at Brands Hatch a few weeks ago and after a couple of passenger laps, I'm now looking for a White manual R, with PSE, Chrono buckets, and aircon. Let me know if anyone is thinking of selling.
Cheers
So when I went to see the Ashgood car I thought it had carbon buckets, but when I arrived I was surprised to see it had sports seats. I asked the chap if they had been changed as I was sure I'd seen them in the advert. I checked the ad on my phone and sure enough no pictures of the seats, or mention of carbon buckets. Anyway, its been nagging me as I really was sure the car had the carbon buckets. Yesterday I saw that the car has been reserved and noticed this picture on the Ashwood site.I looked at the Ashgood R today. If I'm not mistaken, that's a Carbon bucket, definitely not a supersports seat? I know there's nothing can be done but it just really annoyed me that I drove 1hr to see a car which wasn't the spec that I'd seen advertised.
Certainly looks like Carbon Buckets to me as the seat squab is lower and you can see the carbon weave on the bottom lhs.
Must admit that there is nothing better than tilting the seat forward to just oogle the carbon. Do that far too frequently on my 987 Boxster Spyder than is considered sane.

That pic is definitely a carbon bucket not a leather sport seat. Something strange going on!!
Wonder if they decided not to let the expensive seats go on a cheaper higher mileage car and put them in a lower mileage one with sports to increase the value of that one??
Yeah I think you could be right there!Wonder if they decided not to let the expensive seats go on a cheaper higher mileage car and put them in a lower mileage one with sports to increase the value of that one??
Curent advert of the high mileage R still has buckets in the photos though. You'd think they'd remove that!!

Surely this would flag up on the vehicles certificate of authenticity with regards to its original factory spec?Wonder if they decided not to let the expensive seats go on a cheaper higher mileage car and put them in a lower mileage one with sports to increase the value of that one??

RSJ used to swop the spec of their cars upto a few years ago until it kicked off on here about it. Swopping wheels and exhausts around.

Was it even the same car?.. those pics are of a PDK, and you said you wanted a manual? which was it?
Yes, definitely the same car. I had called them about it a couple of days earlier. I went to view it because I hadn’t decided on manual or PDK at that point and it looked really good value. I was very confused when I arrived and it didn’t have bucket seats, when I asked they didn’t say they had been changed.dougle_turbo said:

I never got around to checking this one out, the mileage niggled me a bit as i'd plan to drive it a few times a week so it'd be up to 100k miles before long! So I'm still on the lookout! If I'm not mistaken, that's a Carbon bucket, definitely not a supersports seat? The GT4 they have in stock has the same folding buckets with what looks like the same stitching...maybe they swapped them with that one to make it more saleable!Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
