Didn't take long for mine to shift and Grant (who was at Donington with us) is loving it. He's already done 1.26 at Donny on the old PS2 tyres. That will likely come down now that he's picked up my OZ wheels with supersports on and is starting work on improving the brakes (just slotted discs and pagids to start with). I think if someone has spent time with the latest PDK they might be disappointed with the original version in the R but if like me (and Grant) if you've only had the original there's little to complain about. smile
The PDK vs manual debate will rage on and on for ever , but we are in sad times for cars, as the poster above stated his 981 is not involving like it should be, I also see today Audi from 2019 model onwards will not sell a manual car in the USA

So the R in manual is one of it's key selling points, to add PDK kills the ethos of the model imo.

But as I stated, that just my personal view, and if people enjoying lapping autonomous cars in the future so be it.

Never in the history of mankind has one individual done so much to talk up prices of their chosen car for their own financial benefit eh David ....
what a load of crock st you post really.

You seriously think I have any weight over the Viper green car selling at £55k or the current £55k OPC car with 55k miles on it lol
You really need to think about what you post before posting is my best advice.

I'll not go on as the rest of your post is so incorrect it's just Trolling sadly even at all the other R owners !!

Yeh, yeh, yeh, same old, same old rolleyes
I know you had no weight over the sale price of Viper Green car, it belonged to a mate of mine, and like plenty on here, he thinks you're a prize tw*t ;-)
But rest assured, your constantly banging on about what is a "drivers" spec CR, and what isn't, has determined what a desirable CR spec is for many. No doubt you'll try and do the same with Gen 2 991 GT3's having spent the last 5 years berating anything with GT3 on the engine cover ... hehe

How very dare you!!!!

In regards to David and Henry's latest little spat about prices, I'm very much aware of the fact that I paid top money for it. Henry knows as he is a friend of Kevin, that the car is absolutely mint and one of a kind, so yes I paid a lot for it, but I don't expect to lose a lot if I ever decide to sell it on.

Honestly, I don’t actually think you paid top money for it. You paid what you thought a mint 1 of 1 car was worth. I dare say you’re more than happy with your purchase as would I be.

It’s a pukka car, looks the business and is special in every way. Even if it is a gen2 Sport.
(I jest) biggrin

I’m more than happy for all the “spec Fanny’s” (as I like to call them) talk the prices of Cayman Rs up.

While folks are wasting time speculating what the future holds like some select group of Mystic Megs.... I’ll be out enjoying every second of what my R was made for.
Putting miles on it and enjoying driving the damn thing. biggrin

Now this is more like it! Shame there's no PSE, but the rest of the spec is almost perfect!

Can't see it hanging around long...

Thats the best one I've seen for a long time. Almost perfect spec in my eyes. Just needs PSE to be bang on but perfect spec cars are rarer than unicorn sp*nk.

With a warranty too. Dare I say it feels underpriced... I don't think it'll be there long!!

I'd love to, might even go view it later. But as I said a while ago, my search is, unfortunately on hold at the moment. cry

I know others are looking though, so if I can highlight good cars for them, so be it...

soon R prices will be waaaay beyond what they're really worth.
Like any asset, an R is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Whatever you, or anyone else, thinks something is worth is irrelevant.

my mates wants this car , we know it well, I tried to buy it once, he tried to buy it the 2nd time, it keeps coming up for sale mind you, and no one is using it !!
3 times in the last 3 years I think.

seems a shame no ones driving it, ..only 800 since last MOT and the one before that only 1.5k.

on a plus note it was totally mint the last 2 times we looked , so with no extra miles to speak of must be still mint.

thing with low miles cars is the value is in the miles, use it and the cost per mile is high, all though to get to 40k miles at it's current rate would take 18 years lol so may be not to bad lol.

My mate just text me for a loan, so it might not be for sale long...

I'm very ashamed to say I did less than 800 miles in my R last year :-(

This year I'll be doing more than that on just one weekend away to Germany!

First year with mine I did 5k, second year 4k, third year 3k and this year just over 2k. I just looked up the MoT history to see. I should have used it more this year but the amazing summer meant I spent most weekends on the mountain bike. Next year I'm going to have a good road trip and use the car more. It's too good not to!

Great spec and mileage Jim - low mileage, extended leather, nav, lights and extended warranty is what you've been waiting for!

But the colours not for me, think its up there with black on the CR in my opinion but thankfully we all like different things...

Get it bought!!!

Which begs the question, if you were looking for an analogue car, why did you buy a 981 with PDK, but not only that, a 981 period, with its EPS ? scratchchin (genuine question btw)
Edited by Slippydiff on Thursday 6th September 17:38
I wasn't consciously looking for an analogue car, just something I could do ocasional track days in, which my 987.1 is not well suited to in terms of engine oiling design limitations.

I should have spent more time driving 981s to get a proper feel for the car's characteristics. I was too influenced by 981 road tests and forums which seem to hold the 981 as an overal big improvement over the 981, despite the EPS, and the PDK sales stats which show an indisputable market preference for auto over manual. I did also consider a 987.2 S but there are not many of those around with the spec I was looking for.

I have a couple of daily drivers so this is purely a fun car. If it was a daily, maybe the better tech and long list of options would swing my overall impression towards the 981. But when I only drive it for the sake of driving, I should have prioritised driver engagement over luxury and convenience.

Tracydeedance, Charles at Top 555 has just this minute advertised a very nice looking PDK Cayman R...no excuses now, you snooze you loose

PS I have no affiliation at all to car or dealer other than to say in my experience Charles and Top 555 are excellent!
Looks like it’s sold now 😀

Good to see that you are moving on and I don't think Ashgood has suffered from this. From what I can tell they sell some good cars at the right price and have plenty of happy customers.
Totally agree with this. They have a great setup, knowledgeable staff, cars are priced to sell and found their customer service excellent.

Hurts to lose on a car but OPC cars usually take that big longer to sell, so more time to negotiate, because they have their uplift in costs because of their higher overheads.

When buying 2nd hand performance cars, I’ve found in more cases than not that the service (during and after the sale) of specialists beats the brands.

All IMHO, of course!
