CR is a real sweet spot .... the hydraulic assisted steering feel is quite sublime ...

981 GT4 is better in many ways .... but not as far as steering feel is concerned. Maybe the very firm side walls of the PS Cup2's exaggerated this ... GT4's are better on PSSupersport which of course are only N rated for the CGT ..

I haven't tried PS4S's ...

That's interesting as i'm considering putting PS4S's on my 991.2 GT3 over winter,,I wonder what effect they will have on dynamics.?

People forget the massive void in the engine mount which ruins the shift.
Cup cars and the car others have driven had solid engine and updated gearbox mounts.

I have engine mounts in my car it's rifle bolt action and the reason imo people snap cables, ie slippy has his a 2 minutes and snapped his cables prob due to load on the engine and it notgoing into gear and people force it.

I have done 40k miles in R and Spyders with zero issues but I don’t run the oem mount so my engine don’t wobble about.

If you fit solid mount cables but your engine is wobbling about it’s still not going to go into gear.

But what do I know I only mod my cars not talk about modding them lol

I have a manual 987 in stock at the moment with numeric racing cables. First time I have had a car with them and would highly recommend. The shift is close to a gt4. Bit noisy but sort of adds to the rawness.

Well the deed is done and I'm back in the game. Probably paid too much and will now watch the market correct itself and prices tumble, but hey ho - life's short, deadly and earnest.

Thank you Mogsmex. I was pleased how well it looked when I viewed the car. Wouldn't normally think of silver but it seemed to work really well with the R's black bits. Helps that it's clearly been pampered and was very shiny. Proper German racing colour too!

Thank you Jim and s3 akr too. Looking forward to its delivery immensely. Wiper is a bit of a nuisance but I'm inclined to forget about it and leave it unless the thought of the weight messes with my mind. Not worth passing on the car as it was bob on in every other respect.

Paul - please look at Slippy's explanation. It's the main reason why the cup cables feel so much more engaging. Please ignore David's comment, I'd wager that he's never tried a Cayman with cup cables. I have, and I'm speaking from actual experience. The cup cable makes for a very positive shift, it feels like you'd imagine an open gate shift would be - extremely precise and satisfying. It's one of the actual mods I regret not doing on my Cayman R, I think it would have been more worthwhile than getting it chipped.

The car I tried was a heavily modded Cayman in the midlands a few years back and my favourite aspect of that car was the gearshift!

Sorry for the delayed reply, haven't been paying attention.

Parr quoted me £600 a few years back, fitted. I dealt with Lawrence Stockwell - nice guy!

If you're implying that Slippy and I don't mod our cars, then you're sorely mistaken. You do know some stuff but also spout a lot of self-absorbed nonsense.

Like your ridiculous hatred of the GT3MC mod to a Cayman R - it makes a massive difference to pedal feel, which is what people want. Who cares if it's "masking a problem", if it gives the result that people want?

Looks lovely that. Some very key specs.

Although I've just noticed it doesn't have PSE... who in their right mind would spec all that stuff, most of which is very key, to then miss off PSE. Makes no sense to me at all.

Everything else is perfect.
