I've not read all of the 100 pages here so apologies if this has been covered.

Does anyone know how many of each colour (of CRs) were registered in the UK ?

Here is a sellers perspective

I have had my car up for sale for 7 weeks it’s a manual all the spec apart from buckets at 39995. It’s got 15 months warranty left.

I only considered selling as doing property works and need the 2 bays in my garage. Have sold Porsches privately before quite quickly.

The market pre Christmas was very slow. 2 specialists called offering 37k and another saying not buying but want to do SOR.

1 guy came to see it but he is still trying to sell a 996 turbo. 2 others called pre Christmas.

Last week (7 Jan) 4 dealers emailed all specialising in Porsche. 3 offering to buy 33, 35 and 36.5k. 1 other specialist with good stock offering SOR. He did not like it when I said no you are 300 miles away with c£100k shareholder value on your accounts.

This week also 2 guys emailed and one called. One guy emailed saying I’m looking at a db9, a 996 turbo and a cayman r but can offer you 36.6k. I’d make my mind up which car I wanted before offering.

One other guy called and had a good discussion with no follow up.

I’ve decided to let the advert run till expiry if no buyers then just gonna hold the car as that is what it is worth to me

I should have commission for that Russ !

I think I saw you today Cliotrophy55.
You had just brought the CR back from the test drive.
I did not know you had bought it until Adam said it was just sold.

Enjoy.
Thanks RSX. Apologies I didn't realise that we were at JZM at the same time or else I'd have come and introduced myself. Hopefully catch up at an event in the future - you'll certainly recognise my R!

I thought some of you may be interested in some key metrics from the dataset on R's for sale in the UK which was collected during my search for an R, which ended yesterday. Thanks and much credit is due to another PHer who compiled the majority of the dataset during his earlier search - please do shout up if you wish to identify yourself.

Data were collected over the period from late summer 2018 through to include those cars on sale today, January 2019, from advertisements and also from private sellers. 32 cars in total. Ignoring e.g. salvage cases. I appreciate that there will have been other private transactions during this period which have not been captured. But the time period is approximately half a year, or maybe a little longer. Assuming that the R is a "drive in the summer, trade in the winter" car then this suggests maybe 50-55 cars trade each year. "How Many Left" suggests that there's 232 surviving UK R's (113 Manual, 119 PDK) at end Q3 2018, and so maybe around 25% of cars are trading each year.

There may be many reasons why the mix of traded cars differs from those owned and kept. No doubt there's a few ultra-low mileage museum pieces which don't change hands, and some "unsatisfactory spec" multi-owner cars which trade frequently, but the mix and averages for the available/traded cars are interesting, feel about right, and are as follows:

32 cars
Average asking price = £43,669. 2 prices starting with a 5, 22 starting with a 4, and 8 with a 3. None with 2 or 6.
20 PDK, 12 Manual
Average mileage = 31,700
21 2011 cars, 11 2012 cars
11 Black, 10 White, 6 Peridot Green, 5 Silver, 1 Red
20 Buckets, 12 Chairs (Of the 12 Manual cars 9 (75%) have buckets, of the 20 PDK cars 11 (55%) have buckets)
19 PSE, 13 No PSE

The biggest surprise for me here is on colours. I'm sure I read a Rennlist thread which said that R's in the US were basically 25% White, 25% Green and 50% "the rest". So either the UK likes its monochrome cars (around two-thirds of the dataset were Black or White, Green only 19%), or the Rennlist thread is incorrect, or monochrome cars just trade more frequently than their exotic coloured-brethren.

Interesting to speculate based on these figures how many of any particular spec there might be in the UK. So, e.g.

PDK, Peridot Green, Buckets = 119 * (6/32) * 55% = 12
Manual, Black, Buckets = 113 * (11/32) * 75% = 29

There was definitely a Meteor Grey being retailed last half of 2018.

Correct, for sale around sept / oct and I bought it in Nov. 12,900 miles. I feel you can definitely get a reasonable deal in the winter months. It is strange how some cars (with decent spec, although that is an individual thing) seem to move really quick and others hang around.

I inquired about your car. There are genuine buyers out there (Always hard to decipher i guess) I felt the car i bought was better value etc at the time. I sold a M3 CSL to move to the 'R' and priced it right to sell and it sold within a week. Other cars have been for sale for months. A lot depends if the seller actually wants to sell in my opinion or trying to squeeze every penny out of a deal. ( Not aimed at you, just a general statement) Kev

The buckets make the car I'm afraid so without them it'll always be very hard to shift on for the money you want.

Congrats on the buy and thanks for the summary of the data. One point to mention is that the data is for 31 cars as the Leicester OPC car appears twice on the list as they have dropped the price a little. I've added a screenshot of the main graph for people who might be interested.

Hopefully see you out and about soon Stephen. Coincidentally I got mine out the garage this weekend and ended up doing 268miles in her! Superb little cars these R's, roll on spring and some decent weather!

Apologies if I have missed anything but anyone know much about the 911Virgin car?

Have asked to see it Friday to see if a deal can be done against my 996 GT3.

Yes - it was my car and I’m happy to have a chat with you. PM me and I’ll let you have my contact details.
Nothing to hide - epic car, spec, condition, history and IMO priced competitively for its mileage and spec.
Cheers, Chris
