Here is a sellers perspective
I have had my car up for sale for 7 weeks it’s a manual all the spec apart from buckets at 39995. It’s got 15 months warranty left.
I only considered selling as doing property works and need the 2 bays in my garage. Have sold Porsches privately before quite quickly.
The market pre Christmas was very slow. 2 specialists called offering 37k and another saying not buying but want to do SOR.
1 guy came to see it but he is still trying to sell a 996 turbo. 2 others called pre Christmas.
Last week (7 Jan) 4 dealers emailed all specialising in Porsche. 3 offering to buy 33, 35 and 36.5k. 1 other specialist with good stock offering SOR. He did not like it when I said no you are 300 miles away with c£100k shareholder value on your accounts.
This week also 2 guys emailed and one called. One guy emailed saying I’m looking at a db9, a 996 turbo and a cayman r but can offer you 36.6k. I’d make my mind up which car I wanted before offering.
One other guy called and had a good discussion with no follow up.
I’ve decided to let the advert run till expiry if no buyers then just gonna hold the car as that is what it is worth to me
Imho you are doing welll to get any cash buy offers from dealers in the current market. CRs are prime SOR fodder as the prices can be a gamble and as a dealer I would only have a white fully optioned R with 20 odd k on the clock as any deviation from that is hit and miss. The green one clio bought wow that's big money. Put 20 to 15k on it its a 35k car. Peridot green has traditionally been a marmite resale colour too but each to their own. Dealer green one at 50k is pure fantasy land.
On the sale of yours it is dithering season as I call it. Too many guys couped up over winter browsing classifieds and dreaming. The real buyers will hopefully start to emerge at the end of the month.

What's all this prices are softening stuff then, that's a punchy asking??
Right spec, right colour. Pricing looks consistent with the chart (see above) given the full spec if a deal is done in the late £40Ks. It’s all about the number of opportunities that a potential buyer has to get a full spec clean car in the colour they want and with manual/PDK in line with their preference. If you want such a car for this Spring/Summer and not 2020 then there won’t be many other opportunities as there’s just not that many R’s. Hence the pricing.Punchy advertising it at £50,000 instead of £49,995 but maybe that's just my mental barrier.... The data puts its value closer to £45,000, presumably there is some haggling room. Not a bad buy if you can get it close the line of best fit. I think this is the car I made an offer on before Christmas......

In my opinion the 911 V CR is spot on the money for similar mileage.
.
Think the 911V car (my old R) will be 'Deposit Taken' over the next few days as I've had conversations with 3 interested parties, 2 of which are going to view over the next few days..
Someone will get a great car.

Given that we are close to GT4's coming to the 60s it makes a 50k R look dangerously overpriced. tracydeedance said:
The very lowest GT4 I i have seen for sale is 73k
If they were low 60s I would have one as I am sure many others would.
Agreed. I guess if someone was really, really optimistic they could persuade themselves that the cheapest OPC GT4 at £73,950 is quite close to £69,999! If they were low 60s I would have one as I am sure many others would.

Save the ££££ as the CR is the better fast road car
Sorry Chris...it's not! But...that could be because you did GT4 to CR whereas I did CR to GT4 (which might account for our different opinions).I ran both for well over a year side by side, I only bought my 2nd R as the GT4 was a bit dull for a road car and the R offered up more fun.
Gearing and the dreaded EPS took a bit of the life from the GT4 and also the chassis and grip was too good for the power.
While the R always felt alive, the 3.4 revs out really nice, it has lower in gear speeds, less grip and better steering.
It really is one of the best drivers cars on UK roads , hence it beat a 997 RS and won drivers car of the year at launch in Auto car.
I would not track an R as the GT4 has it licked on track, so choose your weapon.
GT4 is the track car, R is the road car, imo of course.

Interesting you say that, I'm contemplating selling my R with all the right spec and white - albeit it 33k miles and OPC said they wouldn't even make me an offer at the moment and to wait until spring when they might!Dealer green one at 50k is pure fantasy land.

I would buy it off you at trade price as would Mr Friday. So don't worry about not selling it back to an OPC.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
