I've owned mine for 3 years and mine has the top 7 (Not 8 as it's not PDK) plus:- PSE, Chrono, SS, CC, Cup holders, reverse sensors, Aux inputs, PCM with phone prep, BOSE, Carrara white.

I have added a Heigo half cage (which is bolt in and easily removed), GT3 MC, GT2 ducts, not adding anything which doesn't allow it easily put back to standard. Nearly 20k miles now and just 4 years old.

No intention of selling it as I can't think of anything as good I could replace it with, without spending another £30k - £50k more

Hi Chris, I'd love to take you up on that. I've not got anything in the diary yet - only just coming out of hibernation. I'll let you know my plans when I've figured them out ! Every year I promise to do more track days, but every year I find myself busier and busier and end up doing fewer - I think I managed four last year ! Oulton's a bit of a trek for me and generally involves a night away, which is not terribly popular with "management", so Donington is about as far North as I tend to get to these days........ Hopefully I'll get out for a day at Brands in the next month or so - the car needs a proper shakedown following the most recent upgrades and Brands is closest and the track I know best.

My old Cayman S (now owned by Friday Passions on here) is pdk but has all 11, can't be many like that out there.
I think I own the best 987. Simple. I made the same mistake as you in selling it. It will never happen again and although it came back to me needing a set of pads and a couple of top arms I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have bought it back. The only thing that I have recently thought about was speccing a 981 GTS new the same but am I right in thinking the 981 ordering is closed? Equivalent GTS was about 72k so its a bit of a commitment and I think I would possibly try something Italian at that money.

Interesting that MrD is on the hunt for for a keeper R. Its almost like someone in the trade has given him a tip wink Its a good move. If you can get a unicorn they are a good bet that will be even better when the GT4 numbers are finally settled and nailed down. Just dont take it over 30k and they will appreciate over the longer term. They just have to have buckets/Chrono/PSE the other options IMO not quite as crucial but get one of those with PCCBs and knowing what I now know about PCCBs you will find someone that will value them and pay a very high premium. I think that option was worth every penny and more of the option price when new. They are that good. Completely and utterly transformative and one of the main reasons for my bold but true statement at the start of this post.

Donnington is good for me --- the same distance away as Oulton actually --- I also plan to do more this year in place of racing.

The last two years have been too busy !!

big 4 imo for resale, a car will sell if it has these 4 items, in fact most cars sell off line, my new car was NOT advertised.

Manual (yes a few want PDK but on the whole people are now after manual R''s) means you can get a deal on a PDK though and way more choice.
Buckets
Spyder wheels
AC

the next 4 are
PSE
Sports crono (again nice on both models does make a change on PDK change , can be retro fitted for £800, I like the faster throttle though it gives)
SS (paddles if PDK over buttons)
Blue tooth (should be law in any car, yes I do answer a phone it's a must have for me anyway)

the dream 3 big money extras and very rare.
Leather dash
PCCB just to get the bigger calipers
Xenons

circa 40 UK cars made with the main 4 items I would guess"

Useful summary - is this the most spec sensitive car ever or what ?! Personally, I'd take PSE over AC but I can't argue with the market. Is SS short shift ? I notice that you don't mention colour - does that just come down to personal preference ? By an absolute fluke (I did no research beforehand and just bought on condition, mileage and colour - white), I seem to have a low mileage car with your magic 8. Reading your comments, this must be one of only a few dozen similar cars. Might rethink my plans to take it to the Nurburgring this year and tuck it away .....!
Definitely take it to the 'ring - It's well worth it. My car performed amazingly well at the 'ring. Once I have the MPSC2 on, I want to do a few track days and see how much of a difference it makes.

Eternal issue for any premium car purchase. In reality most of us have so little spare time to drive the toy that the keeping the miles low thing kind of works itself out. If you can buy a unicorn spec Cayman R and find time to do 10k a year in it you have a better lifestyle than I do so good luck to you and screw the prices smile

I took the crossbars out when not needed as they look a bit naff through rear window when driving on road. Otherwise it's very unobtrusive and discreet

I bought some 2nd hand turret covers and cut them to house the brackets etc.

Totally agree but the sportscar market will always be reliant on low miles for the best prices. Its not my fault biggrin

My Cayman has 21k on the clock, dont really care if I do 60k in it. I'd like to but I noticed the other day I've done 10k in the last year in my 2003 Nissan Primestar van. Such is life! I've got other cars that have barely turned a wheel but they are extra special when I do get the time to get them out.

There is in there an argument for "quality time" ie if you are working away for a few weeks or whatever and have the Cayman/Lotus/911 etc in the garage waiting for you its more of an event than sitting on the m25 with it every day. I think theres a sweet spot somewhere in the middle which I tried to maximise earlier this year by selling a couple of other cars. Unfortunately I just ended up buying two more back so back to square one biggrin I do have Evo triangle/Isle of man and the ring booked this year in the Cayman and a couple of trackdays in the Lotus so trying to have a bit more fun than normal this year.

10k in the van FFS!

I wish Porsche had a heritage website, like they do for other marques.

Would be very cool to see exactly how many there were in each colour, and what each of those cars had option wise.

There must be low numbers with the 'top 4' spec. Let alone additional spec to that.

My spec:

Manual
Buckets
PSE
Spyder Wheels
AC
Xenons (A must for me)
SS
CC
Alcantara steering wheel
PCM
Cup holders

I did consider getting Chrono and the Aux jack fitted at the OPC, but I decided I would barely use it so held off for now.

My car is Aqua Blue, would love to see how many others out there in this colour there are.

great spec, in Aqua Blue prob about 3 manual cars with the good bits.

I remember the launch of the R and the OPC manager in Birmingham only ordered cars with Turbo wheels so his cars all looked the same in the show room, ODD !!! and a mistake !

I wonder if the Manual R is one of Porsche rarest cars !

I'd love to find out for definite.

I remember the first R I looked at. It had turbo wheels! It was a silver one at the Silvertone centre.

Speaking of wheels...I'm looking for a set of 19s for track duties. Doesn't seem to much around on the used market so am thinking of a new after market set. Don't really want to spend more than £1500 on track wheels. So am thinking about these BBS CH-R (which are available to order in the right widths and offsets):

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/bbs/ch...

And has anyone tried these?

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod676/19--Style-10...

Thoughts and alternative ideas?

they are a bit heavy, I am sure OZ make some but are about £2k inc Vat.

you can look at an offset to take them out a bit as we all know fitting front spacers really helps the car better to have more offset wheels than spacers.

Good choice for the 'ring for power deficit not important for the half till Bergwerk.

And really modest value/ Incredible chassis eggs you to push and push.
