It’s this me.

I can appreciate this is one of those cars that attracts lots of owners, a bit like a 1m - was just a little surprised with the ownership.

The wrong wheels and read wiper would bother me more than the owners.

It seems keenly priced though for an OPC so I suppose the wheels are accounted for in the price.

I personally don't think they suit the car at all though.

I don't mind either of those too much...

Add in lack of aircon and it'd be a no deal for me too. Each to their own though...

If my wife had had six honeymoons I wouldn’t be expecting a box fresh ride and strong pull with very little slack. Each to their own though biggrin
biggrin Appetites do vary wildly though and I`m sure some would ride it all out just fine. And have appetite for more!

I know we`ve had a laugh about the leather dash option but to be fair I really like it. Its got the buckets too and is manual which is probably generally preferable. Aircon wouldn`t bother me, wheels would but it does seem well priced

Does anyone know what happened to the peridot green one at Vanroonyen? it was on at near fifty and seems gone. Anyone on here buy it?

No air Con and wrong wheels would make that car a no go for me

I know the Van Rooyen car had a PPI at Ninemeister a few weeks ago, so would assume it's now sold

This is the best car on the market at present, IMO (having seen it a number of times and knowing how fastidious the owner is)

I've been helping a friend to find a good Cayman R and the Peridot car at VR ticked all of the boxes. Right spec, right miles, right history and owner-count, right colour...

Happy to say that he has bought it and due to take delivery next week. He may well post in person, so I won't steal any more of his thunder.

Cracking car!

Did look a beaut and do love that colour. My fave at the mo is the red one at RPM Specialist Cars https://www.rpmspecialistcars.co.uk/cars/porsche-c...
Anyone know it?

Lovely pics smile

Did you end up removing the padding from the buckets in the end? I think it was the first time you`ve tracked the R? How did it compare with the Elise and the Renault?

I left the seat padding in and never contemplated removing it. Shows how poorly the roll cage fitted on our Cayman racing car.

The car was lovely on track, with a great balance, lots of steering feedback and good grip. It could probably do with a tad more camber but I can’t gain anymore up front without GT3 LCAs.

The Cayman has more compliance than the Elise and Megane (the latter fitted with the factory Ohlins) which detracted from it’s immediacy on turn in where the others are razor sharp. Both the Elise and Meg have brakes more suited to track work but that’s an easy fix. Overall it was very enjoyable, it didn’t lose out much on the straights against the 997/996 GT3s and I was quicker over a lap smile
I’d love to fit some KWs or Ohlins to the R and GT3 brakes but then I might as well buy a GT4.

We also have my old mans R8 there which was monstrously fast!

Great info thanks.

Does your Dad let you drive the V10?! I`ve one in the form of an M5 E61. Had it for over a year but will track it for the first time later this summer. Haven`t dared til now but can`t see myself holding off for much longer rotate

After looking at Aston V8 Vantages, Gallardo, and another 911, I'm going to see a Cayman R tomorrow with a view to swapping out of a 997.2.

Considered an Exige Sport 350 but think it'll just be too impractical for my needs.

Looking for something with that 'special' feeling and everything else I've tried just feels a bit too lardy for my taste.

Anyone else gone from 997.2 to Cayman R?

Anyone fancy a FPSH 38k miler 997.2 for a good / below dealer price?

I'll be interested to see what you think.

I wanted a GT3 (dont we all), however had missed the boat on them - 996 GT3s were about £38k when id last looked. Subsequently i looked at all sorts of "affordable" 911s from cheap 996 Carreras, RPM CSR package cars and 997.2S. They all didnt feel special enough to me. Lovely as they were, they were all a bit too normal. Added to that, i didnt want a 996 turbo as i just dont like the way they drive and feel a bit of numb and blunt instrument.
Nothing was of interest unless it was a GT3 lol. It had to be RWD, manual, NA and special.
A Cayman was never even on the cards for me, to me a Cayman was a swear word.

It wasnt a proper Porsche as the engine was in the right/wrong place.
I was then convinced to try a Cayman R, however feared it also wouldnt be special enough and it damn sure wasnt a 911.

I had nothing to lose, and thought "sod it", i'll drive one anyway.
It would either prove to me that it was either what i deffinitely didnt want... or would i be suprised and actually like it.

I took one look at it on arrival and fell in love with it, it was every bit as special as i'd hoped and even better once id driven it. It felt like someone had hardwired me into the front axle and the chassis balance was absolutely superb. The ride was supprisingly good and the whole car just felt "alive"

I've since driven my halo'd 996 and 997 GT3s in various flavours and as you would expect, terrified about meeting my heros.
However, not once have i ever been disappointed with my drive home in the R that followed, and dare i say i actually prefer the way my car feels. Having said that, im still a Porsche nuut and GT3 fanboy and would have one in a heartbeat.

Let us know how you get on, best of luck. smile

Thanks for the reply.

I've done the GT3 thing, great car but for me, on the road, just a tad too much.

I'm after something a bit more 'feelsome' than my Carrera and I'm hoping this is what the R will give me.

Fingers crossed!
