OPC would reflash that if you wished.

A remap is easily reversible, but not sure how it would affect chances of a warranty if the new owner wanted to buy one from OPC. On NA cars, the remap isn't as extreme as on a turbo car in terms of % power gains, and the car would be able to run with it without issue. I say that having had remaps on cars in the past, one of which did 93k miles in my keep remapped with a 30% torque uplift - although it did like to eat a clutch every 25-30k, but that was a pretty extreme uplift in power on otherwise standard components!!

The remap wouldn't put me off the blue one if I didn't want to warranty the car - its not done the miles and the map isn't extreme.

Just back from a week in Tuscany where I drove down in the car via the Alps.

I am now utterly convinced as a do anything car the Cayman R is by far the best car ive owned. My 996 GT3 is still my favourite, on track its just so much better but as a car for the road it just isnt as fun as the little Cayman.

Managed a good chunk of the MM route in Tuscany and then the usual passes, Grimsel / Furka and Gotthard - had my Dad (in his 964 with no aircon - what a hero) and friends hence ticking the usual suspect passes. However where they lack in flow they deliver on views.

Over 2.5k miles I managed 30.6mpg which is great for a flat 6 manual. Now a few weeks rest before Spa in October.

What a car! Now high mileage at 31.4k

Thanks Chris / Frayz, shame the images are compressed so much.

It really is a brilliant car.

Its a Rubystone C2 from Japan with RS engine running gear, manthey KWs, cup exhaust, Helco cage, poles. Bit of a Bitsa car but lovely.

Basically better than an RS and a car you can actually enjoy using. Think I’d much rather that than a genuine car.
And it’s in the best colour. biggrin

This car isn't having much luck. I think it's the car that was on ebay for ages that was repaired.

Interesting comment, plenty of R owners modify them in some way.
Not sure why someone wouldn't want one that's modified correctly with quality components. Mine was heavily (for an R) modified and personally i found it more attractive as the modifications were what i would have done myself anyway.

you have the perfect road use drivers car ;-)

the blue one was a steel imo. as those exhausts are BIG money, no wonder it sold.

I just found a great car on Auto Trader.

Hello all... I'm picking this one up on Saturday. It's just gorgeous to drive; it feels such a balanced and harmonious package. It's the only car that I have driven that is up there with my '88 3.2 Carrera for sheer driving pleasure. I've tried a lot of cars along the way!

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool manual man, PDK is not for me. It doesn't have a/c, but I am not concerned about that. Neither does my 911. Lightweight is good!
I'm looking forward to some driving adventures in it soon.

Good buy. Looking forward to your adventures.
Does it have the quick shift mechanism?

Exactly same spec as my car, including no A/C.... 2 months in and it hasn't worrried me at all, windows down in hot weather for more noise biggrin

If not already done, get the short shift kit fitted, makes the gear change like a rifle bolt!

They're a fantastic drive, balanced, direct, fun. One of the best cars I've owned / driven, including GT3, 458 etc etc....You'll love it!

Many thanks for the welcome gents,

Mr Vert, they do seem very similar. Thanks for the tip on the short shift kit, it does sound appealing. I'll shop around for fitment prices. Congratulations on your recent purchase too.

The car doesn't have PSE, but it sounds delightful to me as it is. Does PSE add power, or just more noise?

Totally agree that they are a magic potion of a car... somehow greater than the sum of the parts. I'm delighted that I have found one and just a few miles from my location.

My view is that it's a better looking car than the 981/2; more delicate and sculpted. I know most will not agree, but for me the 987 shape has Porsche DNA running through it... the later cars, not so much. I have driven a 981 GTS, but found it much less involving than I hoped. Good car, but sanitised a bit too much for my taste.
