I've asked JZM about the exhaust on their white one (thought I read somewhere here it was aftermarket). It's a standard non PSE.

I had a look on their site and it's all pretty eye watering whats happening with the GT prices etc. All very sad that alot have barely any miles too. I'm sure a few of the GT second owners have got burned on prices and they seem too scared to even drive the things as they will lose even more - SO WHAT'S THE POINT??

I like this guys take on it all. I'm sure he annoys many but I like his videos anyway: https://youtu.be/RJ739X8SSCk

As I've said before, it'll take another financial system shakedown to find these cars 'true' value as all asset classes pricing has been screwed up in this QE era (stocks, housing, cars!). I'd be buying my car with cash but I'd say most are on finance and if you walk in with a few thousand £ in your pocket you can drive off in virtually anything now.

That’s my old car.. Someone’s painted the wheels Black though....

Glad to see it’s being used properly... Well done Sir...
No , no , that’s definitely MY old car!!
I sold it to Gary ( Freedman )
When did you have it ?
I had the wheels painted black , prefer that look with all the other black accents on the car.
Only had the car for a year and now have a 981 Spyder.
Gary is as you say , “using the car properly” , which is nice to see , and what he told me he was going to do!!
Don’t know how long before me you had the car , but when I sold it on it had approx 33k miles on it and was pretty much pristine condition.
What do you have now?

Dave
Hey Dave - Had it for three years or so from August 14... Yeah - I think had about 33k when I sold it back to Porsche Leicester... I think you must have bought it next maybe? I loved the Interior all painted in Peridot - thought that was just fantastic..

Driving a manual 997.2 4S for the last 18 months or so... lovely.. very different to the R and I miss the buckets if I’m honest...

What do you make of the 981 Spyder as I’ve been thinking of one for a while?

Cheers Paul

Yes, Boxster Spyder wheels. They're still on it but painted full black gloss (by Porsche Leicester when Gixxerdave bought it)

Mileage has just hit 36,000

Road trip to Stuttgart in two weeks time will add some

Good stuff, get her to 50,0000 miles!
All this talk about mileage on the Porsche forums is depressing.

I just went out in the Cayman to pic up my lad from school a mile away and ended up doing 25 miles

Hi Paul
You must have had it directly before me then , as i bought from Jaz at Porsche Leicester.
Had the wheels painted by them as part of the deal , along with new coloured wheel centres.
Great car , but had a yearning for a Spyder!!

Spyder is a totally different car , especially the extra power and the soundtrack. but , "horses for courses" etc!!

My Spyder is up for sale at the minute on Pistonheads ( the one with the 5PYD reg plate ) , if you're interested send me a PM , I'm sure we could do something price wise .
I'd like to keep it , but could do with releasing a bit of cash from it ( need to finance another project and then try and buy another car that excites me as much but with only half the outlay !!! )

Unfortunately not! I reckon mine will be away for the winter in the next couple of weeks too.

Did you get the feeling they might deal on the price given they've had it for months ???

I didn't get that far as I need to get a drive in one before deciding if it's worth the considerable uplift from a 987.1

I think any 987 Cayman S is a lot of drivers car no matter what. The beauty of the standard one is there is literally zero thought about mileage and it's effect on value. I think that values of good lower mile standard Cayman S from that era are stabilizing (by that I mean sub 60k not sub 30k like the R). The whole Cayman as poor mans 911 thing has shifted a bit due to the GT4 etc. With an CS you are talking about say £1000 either way but with a CR it can mean closer to £4/5000.

The R could go either way I think and there's more cash at stake and sensitivity to mileage (like the GT's).

Anyone know why the white one at Nine Excellence hasn't sold yet? That looks like a nice car and has all the right options ticked.

Did some one have it after you ? Or are you the last owner ?
Did you leave in the fix you did for the radio unit etc.

Hi, has anyone here owned a GT4 and R.

Reading up on the GT4, the fuel economy seems terrible.

I know it's not the main factor when considering a Porsche but it does seem to worse than expected.

I sold it back to Tom @ 911V and it sold very quickly to a guy on here called Joe who part-exd his 996 GT3 against it plus cash his way. Think he did a few trackdays in the R and loved it but sold to buy another 911 from memory...

Has the expensive Endless brake pads fitted and other than that (camber maxed out on front too) its a good standard car with all the right bits and was in exceptional condition when I owned it.

The Pioneer head unit was removed and put back to standard by 911V.

GT4 sadly is shocking on mpg, you get about 17 normal, 11 hooning and 6 mpg on track and a high tax rate. Tyres are also big bucks.

The R will get you ave 24 mpg and you can get 35 on a run.
Also cheap to tax at £280, and tyres are about 1/2 the value.

The R wins by a mile as a fun road car, the GT4 wins if you want to track it.

Ran a GT4 for 2 years and R's for 5 years, and bought a 2nd R for fun while I owned my GT4 which really was not a fun road car imo, but was a nice car to track even at 6 mpg.

At one point I had 4 of the main sort after porkers at the same time and sold the 5th.
R, 987.2 Spyder, 981 Spyder, GT4 , 991.2 Manual GT3.

I kept the 991.2 manual GT3 and the 987.2 manual Spyder, as imo those were the best 2 from the 5 and made a nice pair.

I then bought a GTS but sold it after 2 months.

Best value fun porker atm £19k on a mint 2.9 Boxster is about all you need really. But we all like some thing a bit more special if funds allow.

if you only have one car and want fun at normal speeds and don't really track it, the R is hard to beat , as you daily it also. It does every thing better than well.
And as I also posted a 997.2 S also does that job well.

If you have a daily and want a 2nd car and like driving over posing, a 987.2 Spyder or a face lift Elise both make great 2nd cars.
