Looks crap on both imo.

car needs to be Black, Red or Blue for gold wheels.
To be fair, not great pictures by me, and the colour would be better if a little darker I reckon. The 911 seems to wear them well on white and it would be interesting to see the spyder wheels done this way for the R. I think you're right about the Black/Red looking the best, but not so sure on the blue.

HA!
Someones got too much time on their hands.
Looks great on white as expected, not sure on Peridot. smile
Not enough time to make a decent job of it though!!!

Weiss gold looks good against most colours. Here are mine just before fitting, looks a lot darker here.
The correct colour - looks good to my eye!

Gold on white looks superb IMO.
With Peridot i feel you're pretty much limited to black or silver. Not sold on anthracite on them personally as they often give the impression of being dirty.

I love the silver on mine but would like it to be possibly a bit brighter, like the satin silver here.

i had satin black on a white 2012 Leon Supercopa and they cleaned so easily - it was like they were Teflon coated. I thought that they always looked clean as they weren't meant to shine!

Not sure on blue and gold, it’s the most iconic paring ever.

I'm referring to the specific blue of the Cayman R - I had a Clio Williams years ago, and that car looked perfect on the Blue/Gold as did some Scoobies

Im not sure that's still for sale. it's not on their website.

I test drove it last year and it's a lovely thing.

Ah right, I see it was listed 6 weeks ago.

Also had this Spyder listed but it's not showing on their site now either.

Finally got to look around a 718 Spyder yesterday at Porsche club meet and the things BIG. I prefer look of old one...

Anyway, I digress.

Trying to resist the urge to fly over and try out Ashgoods CR to see what all the fuss is about. I hear nothing but good things about them as a dealer.

Doubt I'll get a chance here in Ireland anytime soon. Do they do Heathrow pickups?

They've also got a Spyder...and a 996 GT3. I need to at least knock them off my hit list if nothing else.

Dry here today so got out in the Cayman. If I wasn't so attached to the color and bare bones spec the decision would be easier. It amazing fun for the entry price. It does reinforce the fact that I'd like to own the 'best of breed' 987 one day

My R initial experience was a bit of a disappointment. I collected mine and spent the first few hundred miles wondering what all the fuss was about! It was not until a decent set of front tyres and a trip to Center of Gravity sorted out the finer points of the geometry that it all fell into place. Love the thing now though. driving

I have had all 3 of those cars, I only kept the Spyder, but I miss my 2 R's.

Care to share some more details on what tyres and geo settings you changed to?

The ex owner of the Ashgood car is on here if you care to dig around a bit. I've been very reliably informed he is OCD with all his cars.

Ashgood and decent to deal with, tell them what you are thinking, where you are coming from and I'd wager they will help you in your quest and yes they pick up from Heathrow.

Could you sum up the 996 GT3? It's the real wild card but 987 is the more sensible choice.

I love the look of the Spyder. I took my lad shopping at Lidl today and as it was surprisingly dry the Cayman came. I just don't think I'd have taken the Spyder for an Xmas shopping run though.

Tyres are a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2s N0 for winter road use and Pilot Sport Cup2’S for everything else. Print of the Geo attached:

Front toe is designed to be toe out when trail braking. The essential 5MM spacers are on the front wheels. Obviously more camber would be desirable but that is maxed out on standard arms.
At Spa and the Ring it is a lovely thing, very neutral and fun to throw around. It has absolutely no vices.

I did not like the 996 GT3 as a road car. It’s very over rated for UK use on the road imho and now old.

Maybe a set of plush shocks and a short final drive might fix what I hated about it, but not buying another to test that theory.
Although he RPM modded car looks interesting.

An R and the £20k saved not buying a 996Gt3 would make a very nice R. I ran R's for 5 years love the drive.

If I had play money I would be looking at a 997.1 GT3 project and £50k spend on it. Again risky but a project I would enjoy building.

Thing for me is Imho i own the best 2 Porkers made In The last 10 years so not selling either of my babies to fund another porker.
And I had 4 porkers and sold two to fund other brands.

I have spent my money on something very different lately and much fun and does not need any mods , it’s extreme Oem mental machine.
