You've only got to read this topic to see that a PDK R does sell. It might be a little bit cheaper than a manual, but they sell and they retain their relative value as much as the manual too from what I've seen over the past 4 years or so of watching the market.

not when PDK R's don't sell !
Does that mean all PDK R’s are still sat with Porsche unsold?
If you watched the market the last 30 years, you would know that new cars buyer favour PDK and 2nd buyers down the line favour Manuals.

the older the car the wider the price gap, Tiptronic vs manual, 997 PDK GTS vs manuals, Cayman R vs manuals etc etc
R8,Golfs etc etc it's not only Porkers.

Even now it seems that OPC and a few dealers still favour PDK and hence they sit unsold at top money.
997 GTS has gone a bit to far with GTS prices £20k up over PDK and now neither PDK or manuals are selling lol

Of course every thing sells at a price.

Thinking of the bukcets, I love them, but has anyone else had the slightly awkward situation of having to explain to someone that you'd happily take them for a run in the car, but they wouldn't fit in it? laugh I have been told my car is fatist.

I tend to buy cars with my head and taking buckets (and PSE) out of the equation is a massive dent in the price justification. It takes an R closer to a standard gen 2 with Bilsteins + Carnewal mod at near half the price and drive the arse off it.....a pair of buckets are £7k new I think.

Anyway with the FTSE more than 20% down on January's highs alot of 'special' Porsches may see a price adjustments in the next few months if they actually want to shift stock. Bloodbath...

Although Crude has collapsed so at least we should be able to fuel our non enviro machines for a bit longer/cheaper.

But BoE base rate has just dropped 0.5% so someone can borrow cash to buy your car for less now.

Chaps.

Service due on my R. So I'm looking at OPC prices.

I used to have a good official Porsche fixed price document to reference from but I lost it when the PCs were updated. Does anyone have a link to this please?

Going to speak to both my two 'local' stealers to get quotes.

But I am expecting:

£800 ish for Major service
£100 ish for brake fluid
£200 ish for plugs.

Anyone had any luck recently bargaining the prices down between dealers?

Cheers

Haven't they stopped the fixed price servicing now? I got my 981CS serviced last year for £200 less than my nearest OPC, so worth checking around.

Small print at bottom says prices valid 31/12/19 so pretty much up to date.

Taking full advantage of some self isolation I’ve just tackled a job I’ve been putting off for a while.
The header/catback flange bolts had a hideous level of corrosion that left them resembling something akin to 3 Twiglets holding the exhaust on as opposed to any meaningful hardware.
The car wears Fabspeeds catted race headers and Remus titanium exhaust.

Needless to say I didn’t bother with putting a socket on them and went straight to cutting them off. Exhaust removed, disassembled, cleaned all joints and refitted. All the exhaust hardware is now titanium including aerospace titanium K nuts. I also binned the standard Norma clamps and have fitted new all stainless Mikalor W4s.

Just because I’m childish and it’s pretty I hit the exhaust tips with my blow lamp and coloured them up.

This should mean I’ll never have any kind of corrosion or fatigue concerns on the exhaust hardware again.

Tempted to swap out the 18x header fasteners for titanium studs too, as these are a known issue to break upon removal. However I fear that’s a can of worms to think about another day.

All fitted and tucked up tight.

How do you rate the Fabspeed headers quality wise?

In terms of corrosion resistance, pretty poor to be honest as you can see on the flanges. But the rest of them is held up pretty good.

Having said that, I can only say how impressed I have been with their product support.
Phil from Fabspeed contacted me on Facebook after seeing the state of the flanges and hardware. I was concerned due to the flange corrosion that I may have trouble getting them to seal on the gasket faces. Obviously I’ve leak checked them and they seem fine but I’ll have to do a full spanner check once it’s had a few heat cycles as I dare say the tips may move out of alignment after a few drives.

Phil said that whatever happens they will stand by their product if I have any issues. That speaks volumes to me as he was the one who approached me.

I take it they're these 304 Stainless Steel ones?

https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-987-boxster-cayma...

What's the mechanism causing that rust. The flanges are in contact with Titanium and/or the gasket material but it's all bridged with the bolts anyway.
