That was my car - it won't hang around as it's got all the boxes ticked apart from an alcantara steering wheel.

Brakes are phenomenal but they don't half squeal inner city speeds. You get odd looks or knowing looks depending on the crowd.
Not sure i can justify two cars almost the same, I just want the brakes!!
It was my car before Prestonese, and I know the owner before me. I bought it when I already had a Peridot R, just for the brakes and to see how much better than steels they are. Difficult to justify 2 R's at once. But it's a lovely car - I had it looked at and a few minor things sorted in 2019 at RPM Technik, and it had its 8 year service and warranty check at OPC Guildford in December 2019. I think it's cheap too!

Hi
For a blue Cayman R for sale, please could you tell me if this spec is good for an R? Bar the seats, how much of this is above standard/out the box. It is a private sale (not the blue ones currently advertised), so I cant link to the car, but any advice on the below would be much appreciated. Best regards

seems like a half decent spec, no mention of sports exhaust?? if you plan to leave stock its a very nice to have, if you dont mind after market then no issues

It's got a rear screen wiper so is worth 25 quid at the most....

Seriously looks nice spec.

Manual, buckets, spyder wheels are the main three that you must have.

Rear Wiper is a must surely. Looks so much better with a rear wiper, more GT style.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know how common the option for extended leather dash/doors as from research of all cayman R's I can find around the entire world, it seems like perhaps 1 in 1000 has this option. Thats a guess I should add, based on looking through archives of about 200 odd and not finding a single one with that option.

its not very common, due to the nature of the car most would have been looking at the sporty features rather than the more GT options, certainly nice to have but i have to say its the buckets that really make the inside of the car feel special

Back in the day is was £2.5k and not taken up much which is a shame, my green car had it and my 987.2 Spyder has it.
It is nicer but as you say so very rare again like the xenon options.

Unlike now where Gt cars in the main are speced well, Cayman R and even the 997 GTS people skimped on them both.

Was half cage a factory option? The advert reads like it was.

Blimey was that option really £2.5K. Wow, are you or anyone following the thread able to guesstimate what the original purchase price might have been based upon that spec I shared?
And things like
MORE POWERFUL STARTER (1.7 KW)
SECURITY WHEEL BOLTS (THATCHAM)
SCAN ANTENNA DIVERSITY
ANTI-THEFT PROTECTION WITH INT. SURVEILLANCE
TILT SENSOR
IMMOBILISER, C. LOCK., 433 MHZ
FABRIC ROOFLINING
64-l-Fuel Tank

Are they standard fixtures or would stuff like that have been included by default? Surely the FABRIC ROOFLINING must be standard otherwise what would be in place of it?

Any further insights/thoughts would be very welcome. Thank you.

Looks like I missed the Ashgoods car as a deposit was placed on it yesterday. If any owners are reading this and thinking of selling please reach out! Must be manual with buckets, AC/radio and full history

Get yourself known on CaymanOC. There's a R thread on there. The owners will come to find you.

What about this one...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

I wonder then, now you mention full history, if that is why the one I have recently purchased (the black one from a few pages back in the thread) sat around for so long as people didn't realise that as it is a car from Guernsey, for which there is no mainland OPD, then it doesn't have chance to have OPD service history (just Porsche independent history, full though, but not OPD). it didn't really bother me in the end, and even when I spoke with Porsche about it (when it was having its 111 check, now its here in the UK) that it is what it is and that circumstances are acceptable to them.
Maybe thats why as that car sat around for some time, so I am unsure why you'd have passed up on that one? May I ask why please....and furthermore it seems a least once a month, perhaps even more frequently, an R with AC, Manual and Buckets comes on the market.
Best regards
Julian

Ok update on the brakes... I was looking at girodiscs and a pad upgrade, stainless steel lines and better fluid.

All in was over £3k 😳 so carried on looking and might have an option to go with AP 6 pot callipers and around, 382mm front discs and 362 mm rear, da2500 pads and stainless steel lines etc for about £4.5k so seriously considering this and will post pics of I do

Low miles must be putting people off as the depreciation hit will be significant on the next owner. Incredible how cars just dont seem to get driven these days. Look at this, a 981 Gt4 with only 200 miles!
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...
Madness!
