It was great to see two R’s at Donington on Wednesday. If the owners are on here, good work
Thank youAnd a few I took of mine before the others arrived.
And yes, I know I should have got the Porsche wheel crest vertical for that last shot....
I hadn't seen this video before. Some nice R action shots.

One of the owners might be, but I know one isn't. He was, however, In Braemar yesterday as I met him there along with another R owning PHer from Aberdeen. I'd suggested to him that the run over the Glenshee road then over the Lecht to get to Aviemore would be worth the extra miles over the boring route he was looking at. Think he agreed.

Lovely shots. I think a road trip to Scotland is required next year.....And a few I took of mine before the others arrived.

what do you think to the idea of side louvre windows for the R?
Are you trolling us now?
Wooden steering wheels and side louvres.... How do you think of this stuff??
But seriously, has anyone ever considered covering their R in Creosote? I was thinking it might add a degree of rust proofing, especially on the brake discs. Would also be a good theft deterrent as you could park up by a fence and no one would know you were there!

Or if storing over the Winter, lightly grease them ...
*****N.B. For those even contemplating doing either of the above, DO NOT DO IT !!*****

Gone. Money saved over one with PSE could have gone into insane aftermarket exhaust.
Lack of Buckets harder to get over though...but still a decent buy if they paid what £35k?
great value if you plan to mod one as lower miles than most. every thing which is missing you rip out a modded car anyway.Lack of Buckets harder to get over though...but still a decent buy if they paid what £35k?
clever buy as they all drive the same.

^ This. Though as you've said previously, the folding buckets (if fitted) are saleable for a decent wedge of cash if you plan on fitting something more supportive and waaaay lighter.clever buy as they all drive the same.
Just curious and apologies if recently already covered but has anyone weighed their R? Preferably someone who had their car weighed and set up by Centre Gravity as that is where mine weighed in at 1389 kilos.
Would like to get a realistic idea of how much lighter they really are over an S assuming PCM and A/C are included.
Thanks

Long time lurker here.
Have followed this thread for a while now, has been quite amusing and surreal at times! Good to see these cars generate so much positive feeling amongst their owners though.
I have owned a Z3M Couple for a number of years now, its had a great innings with me but it is time for a change and will be going up for sale shortly.
I'm drawn heavily towards either a Cayman R or a 996 GT3. I know there is a bit of a price variation between the two and that is certainly making a strong case for the R.
I'm not so bothered about spec or mileage. A good clean well maintained car is more important - Although i haven't this year, I normally do a few track-days in a year - Manual is clearly the favoured choice amongst the vocal members, but would a PDK actually be a better option on track ( not to mention better value and more choice)?
Hopefully i'll post some picture in here (or a 996 thread) soon.
