I’ve had a gearbox bearing let go in the Clio last week so mines on daily duty for the foreseeable till I can get a new box built.
Post Covid and not really getting much chance to use it, it’s been brilliant being forced to used it every day actually.
It’s utterly utterly wonderful.
Clio's do seem to struggle with gearboxes Post Covid and not really getting much chance to use it, it’s been brilliant being forced to used it every day actually.

About time it got some use!! Post Covid and not really getting much chance to use it, it’s been brilliant being forced to used it every day actually.

I've just gone over 7k miles in mine since buying it at the end of November last year! Absolutely love it!

Yep, you called it
I am not convinced that reduction will result in a sale, as in the great scheme of things it is not a huge price drop. It is the only manual with buckets out of the thirteen so its got that going for it, but again you are right the market is slowing.....thirteen R's is the most I have ever seen on AT. A buyers market perhaps for those wanting PDK, tons of choice
Offered me a paltry amount for mine (full disclosure £5k less than others) for a part X. Feel they paid big money for it and are looking to recoup. Interesting, I sensed you were pretty set on the Tilletts.
Did you plan on fitting them for their weight saving benefits ? Improved support/driving position ? Or looks ? Or a combination of all three ?
Are you finding the “armchairs” better than expected from a support perspective ?
With hindsight, I’m firmly of the opinion I’d have gelled with (and kept) my Guards Red R if I’d removed the LW folding carbon bucket seats and fitted a pair of Pole Positions or even the adaptive sports seats which I tried in a friend’s Gen 1 Cayman S.
I think I'm going to give it a few more weeks before I decide...then make a decision. The sports sofa's are pretty good support-wise, however being leather means there is a bit of slippage in some corners Did you plan on fitting them for their weight saving benefits ? The other option was to re-rim the seat centres in Porsche Pasha (Pascha) fabric, but at £ 800 it seems a bit steep to me for the gain, that's one Tillett seat in my mind
If I do the swap, I can always return to standard and sell the Tilletts on, there seems to be a good second hand market for them!
The new Ashgoods R that was listed yesterday has sold (well, reserved, but probably means sold) therefore a lot of this is down to the confidence of buying through reputable dealers and where one can PX in against (probably what commonly happens).
Is that R overpriced? Maybe, maybe not, either way it’s interesting that one lasted a day.

Tilletts are lovely (I have two B8s in my Elise) but bear in mind:The other option was to re-rim the seat centres in Porsche Pasha (Pascha) fabric, but at £ 800 it seems a bit steep to me for the gain, that's one Tillett seat in my mind

- prices on their site are ex VAT
- padding is extra (£245 VAT plus von a B5)
- mounts are extra (£335 each on my Tilletts)
I spent about £1250 per (carbon) seat.
I'd buy them again though.

I know the whole mileage thing has been done to death but I've been pleasantly surprised how efficiently things like a front end suspension rebuild can be done if you hussle it a bit.
As long as the engine doesn't grenade itself, I'm yet to find any showstoppers that would stop me driving the thing ALOT.
If the sole reason is to maintain resale value by say £5k then I have no interest in all that. Also, the arse end could fall out of that equation pretty quickly if things don't play out the way many expect.

In case anyone wants 'R' performance on a budget but with arguably better suspension and brakes then my Gen.2 modified 'S' is still up for sale, and having done 75,000 miles you wouldn't have to worry about keeping the miles off, just drive it and enjoy...

This looks lovely and I love the mods. I have a 987.2 '11 Cayman S and am in a constant state of looking to upgrade/move on but just love it so much. Perhaps slightly modding it could be the route.
Not sure if I am brave enough to move it away from OEM equipment and spec but these mods look great and your write-up was really good. Wouldn't mind picking your brains on this....

Yes, I have shown a few people your listing but they are not ready to move to a Cayman just yet. I'd have been chatting to you if my R hadn't come up last year.https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11934653
I'd happily swap your LSD for mine too!! Out of interest, what was the overall cost to buy and fit it?
A shameless
for a superb car that belies its miles and age amazingly.
It presents and drives beautifully. Both of which are a testament to the owner's investment in well chosen modifications and no expense spared maintenance.
More refined, better braked and suspended than a stock R, has a proper LSD and a subtly modified exhaust better suited for long stints behind the wheel than that of the R
A car for someone that wants to fly under the radar whilst covering ground at a prodigious rate
Hope you're well Charlie.

I think the 987 is the perfect mod base. They don't cost the earth...sort of like air cooled 15 years ago where lads used to mod them..
Probably should be much less of a baby and just start adding stuff to it. Must admit, stereo is the one first - standard item in the gen2 is utter pants. Sounds like the loudspeaker on a Nokia 3310.
Nice one Henry
I am all good thanks hope you are too, thought it was worth a push to people who may 'get it' a bit more than the usual ebay crowd trying to get it for nothing... I've tried to convince myself to keep it but I've not driven it since you had a go so I think it should go to someone who will and I'll get myself a new toy...
