Has anyone on here ditched the front number plate plinth and fitted an adhesive front plate instead? If so, have you any pics?

Here you go Paul, had sticky plates on almost all my cars. Suits the lightweight theme of the R well in my opinion. smile

There was another car without Pics this morning, £45k at TH Boler. It is not on their website and has now disappeared from Autotrader
This was me! Had tried to do a PX with the previous owner but as soon as I knew it was going SOR jumped on it as spec is very sweet!

After a couple of years of M2 I’m finally back in an R!!

Total facepalm at failing to spot it in frayz pic!

Thanks for the pic frayz, I like the look. And I have ordered a sticky plate. Thankfully only two very small holes in my bumper for the plinth which I will fill before I stick on the plate, although I don't imagine they would be visible anyway.

Cheers guys.

I had the same Paul, filled with 2 part plastic weld and rubbed back. Get them as smooth as possible as youll be supprised as they will show through.

Noted, cheers. I plan to sand them right back and go to 2500 wet sand paper. The plate I have coming is about 2mm thick so it may be a little more forgiving than the one you have?

Well in the spirit of using the bloody things and not just having a shiny trinket in the garage i have just booked myself on to this tour in June;

I've done tours with them before and they have been fantastic, so roll on June...driving

That tour looks fantastic , something I plan to do in the future!
Like you I am aware that my car spends most of its life in the garage under a cover , I need to use it and enjoy it more.
Saw your car last Sunday , it looks even more impressive in the flesh , and it must be nice knowing yours is unique , in what is already a relatively rare car.
I was there in my Peridot R , which I love , there were some nice cars there , but none that I would swap mine for , with the possible exception of the silver GT4 with the houndstooth seats , that was lovely.

Yes the houndstooth looked great, i thinking of getting some Viper greenish Tartan centers made up for mine, something akin to these..

I'll get a complete set of centers though and keep the originals for when i get bored again.

I saw your car and had a look around it, very nice and in fact was my color of choice until I stumbled upon my one by chance one day while browsing the inter-web.

Do come and say Hi at the next meet. I'm Peter.

Teah that should be fine. Mine is literally the thickness of the reflective vinyl. One other note, (although with a thicker plate you may not have this issue), when i first fitted the plate i found that a straight plate would slightly bow up at the ends due to the extreme curvature of the bumper. Thus giving a smiley face type effect. It was only very slight but i could see it if i was looking for it.
My plate has actually been made with 2.5mm runout on its length so that when fitted it appears straight to the eye.

Tartan seats will definitely divide opinion , however it’s your car so yours is the only opinion that counts for anything.
Personally I say go for it , unique seats in a unique car , and as you say , just swap them out if and when you decide to sell.
Will definitely come and have a chat if I see you about.

Interesting stuff! Thanks for the info. Who knew a plate would be so complicated? laugh I'll see how my one looks. If it doesn't look quite right I may be in touch to ask where you got yours from.

On another note, I am now 90% sure I am going to get my wheels refurbed silver. To me the black loses the detail of the wheel and I think that black wheels are getting a bit 2010. The silver looks fresher and more modern IMO.

Took the R out last night for a blast. The roads round here are still a bit slippery even though the temps are up but definitely getting there. The car was great although it was obvious I hasn't driven it in anger for a while - I was having to remember how to drive it properly.

I'd forgotten how good the noise is from these cars too. How anyone could deal with one of the new 4 cylinder jobs after the F6, I will never understand.

Hi Andy,

Congratulations on the new car.

I currently have an M2 which I've had for 2 years since new. I love it but fancy a change and I am getting very tempted to move to a 987 Cayman R.

Given that you have just come out of an M2 I would be really interested to hear any view and impressions you have. Thanks

Sad to say that mine drove away today - will be for sale at DT Performance Cars shortly I would imagine.

A lovely car, I had a brilliant time in my 2.5 years of ownership and will definitely consider another in the future!

Good call on the silver Paul, although i am slightly bias. When i have to do mine next im tempted with the matte aluminium finish that was available on the 991.2 GT3.

Silver is just so crisp against the peridot paint biggrin

Sad times indeed man. Can't believe it must be just over 2 and a half years since I gave you the wee run in mine before you got yours. Still, a good reason for selling smile
