Well done on your purchase thumbup

For insurance try Locktons or ManningUK - I believe both give discounts if you're a member of Porsche Club GB.

I was very happy with the deal Locktons were offering. Bag yourself membership of the Porsche GB owners club and get a discount. Good cover too!

I am making a huge assumption here that I'm am older that you.

I use LV for both my cars, Porsche Cayman S (2009) Fully Comp £165 pa, BMW 116i Sport Fully Comp £162 pa (Excesses only £250 on each)

Regardless of age, I have heard good reports of LV Car Insurance.

32 steve

I mostly have older "Classics" so am used to cheap insurance (EG £120 for the Turbo Mini, £200 for the TVR S, £250 for the Mondial etc)
But this being a newer semi-normal car its coming out rather expensive as I have no no-claims, not that ive had an incident, but just that I swap about so much.

So far Lockton has come up cheapest at £410, which isnt silly.
(Thank for the tip!)

So I went with Lockton @ £409 incl free porsche club membership (worth £75)!

(32yo, no no-claims, no accidents.)

Explain this to me:
My shed of a Passat estate 180k miles, falling apart, actually worth less than nothing £600

Try Lockton for your shed as well. I came into ownership of a 20 year old shagged Jag XJ8 Sport the other month. Couldn't get below about £600 on price comparison sites, but Lockton have tagged it onto an existing classic Mini policy I have for about £200/year with even my gf insured to drive it (had her licence just over 1 year) with no stupid excess.

Having just gone through the insurance process, a lot will depend on where you live and your car useage. Lockton's wouldn't insure me as it's my main car (even though I do limited miles), and Mannings were double the price I'm paying with Direct Line due to my postcode and the fact it wasn't a second car. As I don't do track days their policy would be over the top for me anyway.

Direct Line won't cover an OEM windscreen, but the cost saving I've made compared to Mannings means that even if I have to pay for one myself should the worst happen I won't be worse off.

A quick bounce for this old thread as my renewal with Direct Line is coming up shortly. I've just done an online quote and my £670 of last year has now become £1270(!) A quick comparison quote gets me £800 with Bell/Admiral as the cheapest.

I'm in PCGB and got a mailshot for Locktons with the last Porsche Post magazine so decided to try them again. They're coming in at £770 which is pleasantly surprising and very reasonable.

I've submitted a quote request to Manning as a final comparison but as I don't need track cover it looks like I'll be going with Locktons.

Seems a lot still... are you particularly young or "Crashy"?

I'm trying to shift the car before re-insuring...!
Never really bonded with it.

I have a 2016 Cayman GTS and my post code isn't the best, hence the price. As a comparison I was paying £450ish for my previous 5 year old Skoda vRS which was worth around £7k.

Yep. An extra £370 for the CGTS really isn't that bad...

I may have missed something obvious but i'm just looking at sorting my insurance out ready for collection and wondering do Porsche have a tracker service?

I can't see anything on the Connect Plus Portal but I thought they offered a tracker service. Anyone able to advise and also whether it's worth it (I guess this could be subjective).

I am trying to get things sorted - GAP insurance done through ALA , Admiral currently seem the best car insurance and do OEM parts and let me choose my own repairer as long as I get two quotes.

Just thinking about alloy and tyre insurance aswell - any pointers there?

If your car is a 991.2 then it has a tracker, subscription is about £230 per year. Not sure about other models, if it's new check the standard features on the configurator.

I have a new 991.2 GTS, I got GAP and Tyre cover from gapinsurance.co.uk, I didn't bother with alloy as I take the view if I am careless and damage a wheel I will cough up to fix it, plus the tyre insurance alone for four years was great value. ALA are very similar though so nothing against them.

Normal Insurance I've got from NFU, fantastic cover and great price.

Thanks - I found out from another site that on the 718 (the car I purchased) has the tracking system as standard but it has an annual fee of around £230. It won't impact my insurance that much but by not activating it could invalidate (I'd have to check with Admiral or final choice - will look at NFU - thanks)

Either way for £230 I'll just pay it

I went with Admiral for the 718 CS too (and gap insurance on top). A reduction of £30 or so IIRC if you activate the tracker.

Considered the tracker at the annual cost of £230, but when I discovered that you can track your car with the locator on the Car Connect app, the £230 becomes a complete waste of money.

The tracker only adds alerting and security fencing features beyond the locator, and having to carry the tracking device on you whenever you drive, separate to your keys, with Vodafone ringing you up everytime you forget to stick the device in your pocket, it becomes an even bigger waste of money.
