I reckon next gen GT cars with Hybrid power.. Has to be as turbo's seem to be a big 'no no' due to lack of quick response...

Question of when not if isn't it ? Not sure it's next Gen given the but won't be too long.

When you look at how agressively the new Panamera Hybrid is priced (and specced standard PASM etc) compared to the rest of the range Porsche clearly want to increase the sales of Hybrids.

I was about to buy a Cayenne S diesel and I have surprised myself by buying a Cayenne Hybrid.

I bought a Cayenne Hybrid on the 1st March for tax reasons as a company car it is great. However if it was my own money I would by the diesel. It averages around 22 to 24 to the gallon and drops down to 19 mpg when charging the battery. The battery range in reality is at best 7 miles.

On another note the plastic trim around the wheel arches and rear valence is woeful. This has been replaced once under warranty and Porsche refuse to replace it again even though it now looks more battered than my 10 year old Discovery! The car has never been off road but Porsche have told me that it is either the way I wash the car or the type of roads I drive on! With this in mind order one with painted trim.

Yours must be faulty if you only get 7miles on a fully charged battery,i've had mine for two years and chose it over the diesel to take advantage of the 100% 1st yr WDA as a sole trader which in effect knocked 42% off the purchase price.
The secret with using the hybrid is to maximise the coasting as there is no engine braking esp going downhill and avoid in excess of 0.5g braking to capitalise on the regen e-brake.When i start it up i switch off e-power and save it for mainly urban driving where the batteries are at their most efficient where i get about 15miles on a full charge.
I only charge at home because i have a 50kw solar array and hardly ever use e-charge as this guzzles fuel, you need to adopt a whole different driving strategy with a hybrid however if i was not a high tax rate business user i would have bought the diesel s as its more economical on long journeys and just as fast as the 416hp e-hybrid.

You can have Air with PASM on a Cayenne Hybrid. On the new Panamera it comes as standard unlike the S or Diesel.

Ah ok, I just remember there being a slightly different button set up on the centre console than on the diesel ones.
I have PASM on mine and just as well as the ride without it seemed very hard.

Mine does have Pasm which is standard in the hybrid but no air as i prefer the more progressive springs,i find the ride suits me as i hate wallowy cars and when i press on i have the Pasm in sport plus but then all cars seem comfortable to me after spending long hours bouncing around in a tractor.

At leat you have a nice view from your office window! My mates grandfather used to have a Ford tractor dealership years ago.
Transferred a plate as you could then from one his tractors to his car which is a Sapphire Cosworth. The reg is M5 !

BWM offered him a new car for it but he declined.

There is the Hybrid doesn't have the Off-Road mode...the dial on the left of the PASM.

I'd agree about PASM being preferable to Air for the ride. The dealer told me they though the car floated a bit more on Air and having driven both I do think it is slightly better on springs.

That said the car I am getting has Air....there are times for me when Air will be very useful.

I hope so as i have paid a £5k for my dealer's first new gen Panny hybrid,in all honesty its the only Panny i can justify and afford due to the generous tax benefits. The fact in real terms it is £15k cheaper than the similarly fast diesel s by the time you add the Air/Pasm,Sport chrono etc which is standard on the hybrid is merely the icing on the cake for me.
I would not be surprised if this new Panny hybrid will be the first hybrid ever to make the rest of the range seem overpriced and therefore slightly irrelevant at least until the cheaper 6cyl diesel is launched.Of course this is exactly the intention of those clever crafty marketing gurus at Porsche to lower their total Co2 emissions.

The new Panny Hybrid is incredibly agressively priced...especially if you get the tax benefit. Even without it you would have to be doing some huge mileages/be very, very anti hybrid not to give it serious consideration.

I guess the same tech will be available in the forthcoming Cayenne so I might consider a Hybrid then.
