718 Cayman - leather or alcantara

Hi need some help in deciding whether I go for leather/partial leather or the standard alcantara. I am trying to work to a budget with all the options I need, however the seats are something I cant quite decide upon. Any pros or cons of alcantara as I have never had a car with this material before.

Had Alcantara in my RS focus still looked like new after 40k miles and 6 years old was going for it when I ordered Cayman but I want the Porsche crest in headrest and ended up with sports plus seats

You can only have alacantara on the 718, the 7 has leather effect as standard. I bought an S and went for the partial leather package on top (£267) which changed seat centres, door pulls, top of console and instrument binnacle (the best way to see the changes is on the configurator with the internal sideways shot and then add partial leather in red as it shows up the bits that change - it takes a while to work it out !)

I am happy with the partial leather package - the full leather is quite a bit more (about £2k) and for me not worth it (sure it is great for others though - it depends on priorities which is why they are options)

I haven't seen an alcanatra one to know whether it is good or not - my wife's old Skoda Superb was similar in this respect(if nothing else!) and it lasted for 5 years of family abuse very well

I've gone with standard Alcantara for my 718 Cayman - I'll find out if I like it some time in May. Reason for going with it is that my GT86 has Alcantara centres, and after 4 1/2 years and 50k miles they still loo like new, and have been exceptionally comfortable and easy to live with. Whether I love the Porsche ones as much (leatherette rather than leather bolsters) remains to be seen, but I like the standard seats, and I wanted full leather I had to go for sports seats plus.

always option the Gt2 seats. you can always sell them for quite a bit later on if you want to change. Unlike other options, it will hold value.
