That or the new brakes &/or disc design makes them more susceptible to requiring cleaning

That's a new one to me. I managed to escape my OPC without them telling me they needed to clean anything!

In my case the centres have bee painted so they look new-ish. I'll go get a pic...

The cleaning of disks is normally cleaning out the drilled holes which get blocked with brake dust and cause local overheating and cracks in the surface of the disks. Easy to do yourself as noted earlier.

Bought a 981 Cayman S from Porsche Towcester last September.

Noticed that on the computer its due service 06/19, Intermin service 07/19 and oil chance 07/19 so emailed my dealer today for a ball park "figure"

Emailed back this afternoon reckons £1200!!! Cars on 9,932 miles.

Have emailed Cambridge as well, will travel if the price is right.

When was it first registered? Forgetting mileage, it will need an interim every 2yrs and major every 4yrs.

I'm guessing yours is a June/July 2015 car, as £1200 would be about right for a major. That doesn't tie up with the computer though, which says "Interim"???

My GTS is due the spark plugs (but not a service as was done earlier based on mileage).

Been quoted £330 by Porsche Centre Reading........ that seems exceptionally expensive to me...!

Where are you guys getting sparks done for £250ish?

Cheers

Towcester just said about £1200, I got a full quote from Hatfield *shocked*

40k service £883.83
Spark plus £276.32
Check Ancillary Unit Mounts And Chassis Visual Inspection of all Rubber Mounts For Damage £77.70
Drive belt check £66.60
Brake fluid £160

£244 vat

£1,464.45 in total.

surely the "checks" should just be part of the service, never known a car manufacturer to charge for "checks"

That's a total rip off and flies in the face of Porsche's own fixed price servicing for our cars. The four year service should be £630 (which is still plenty for what is done!) and the brake fluid change at £95. Each of those figures INCLUDES VAT. On the basis of their pricing of the other bits, the plugs should be about 2/3 of their quote so say £220 inc VAT! A chassis inspection should be included in any service from Porsche (according to their own list of items carried out). Quite what you're doing if you're not checking the rubber bits at that stage is beyond me. The drive belts I'll give them as I'm assuming it involves removing the interior carpet to access. Let's face it........at Porche prices that figure only equates to about 20 mins!!!

Any way you dice it, it's time to phone around and get some competitive quotes. To give you an idea of what's possible, my nearest Aston dealer wanted £1400 for a major service. I ended up paying nearer £800........at Works Service in Newport Pagnel no less. Better service by better techs for 2/3 the price.

Good luck.

Including spark plugs as well? My CGTS is not due it's 4 year major service until June but I was in contact with my local OPC on another matter so asked them their price and it's slightly more than yours on the checks but spark plugs and tyre sealant £255 and £65 respectively.

I’ve been quoted the following from Sheffield OPC.

£1200 for Major Service, inc Spark Plugs, Brake fluid, Sealant replacement, etc. 10% taken from this for PCGB membership. I.e £1080

On top of this they have quoted £180 for 111 point check (including 10% discount)
The two year warranty extension would be £1190.00 and then an additional £285.00 if you would like Porsche Roadside assistance.(No discounts available on this)

£900 was the cheapest I could find last year for 40k service. That was below the fixed price cost. Haggled OPC down to that. Less than that, something is missing.

Buy tyre sealant from Halfords and tell OPC. That's what I did.

What year is the car? Is it under warranty? Do you want to maintain Porsche warranty? If not, try a good indy. Not that much cheaper but may not damage you car whilst they have it.

At least with a full OPC service history and warranty you are effectively ‘bullet proof’ if anything goes wrong.

My OPC waived the cost of a 111 check when the car was in for an MOT which was done at £35! I didn't extended my warranty anyways but will keep Porsche SH.

So buy the sounds of it for a major service:
- take in your own oil
- clean your own discs
- take in your own tyre sealant.

How much do OPC charge for Spark plugs vs online say?
