when pulling up to a junction and as the PDK goes from 3rd to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st I get a slight clunk/knock as it changes. It feels like the engine revs are dropping off too much and when the change is initiated the engine has to catch up making the transmission clatter a bit. I have owned a 981 PDK previously and don't remember it being like this.

Am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks

My 718, changes completely seem less, no clicks, no noise.

My 981 ones are almost always seemless, but there is the very occasional clonk going down into first. But I suppose new gearboxes (whether manual or PDK) might need a bit of running in before they perform at their best. Certainly mine was a bit sluggish 2nd to 3rd with a cold engine when new, but is now much slicker.

I would never describe the downshifts of any PDK car I have driven as seamless, but that doesn't mean there is anything mechanically wrong with them.

Maybe with it being a new car you are just more being attentive?

Agreed, around town at low speeds.

It's one of the reasons why I bought my Porsche as a manual. If you want super-smooth shifting you need a torque converter auto.
