Tim that interior looks stunning. Are those silver grey seat belts (or crayon)?
Thanks. Silver grey seat belts. Thought they'd go with the rather monochrome interior.

What Porsche is charging for with the Sport-Tex option is essentially the deviated stitching option (although you are limited to the grey stitching), which is ~£1800 with full leather (Sport-Tex comes with the full leather dash etc). So relatively speaking, if you want deviated stitching and prefer cloth, it's actually a ~£400 saving to get the Sport-Tex.

Either way, full leather or Sport-Tex are expensive options but I think you really need to get what you like when spending this kind of cash...and Porsche knows this...it would be much more expensive to try and save the money when buying the car and then spend your period of ownership wishing you'd ticked the box, hence this thread I suppose.

Indeed.

Am still not sure what material the non-leather parts of the sport tex seats are. Some kind of woven fabric. It's quite rough and hard in texture, not soft. I get the impression it's durable.

OMG, those are 'cloth' seats aren't they? Please don't tell me Porsche are charging a premium for a cloth seat now?
They've been doing it for years with Alcantara

The car doesn't have Sports Chrono but does have a "Sport" button....anyone care to enlighten me ?

The PSE seems to have three modes...off...on via the PSE switch and then when I put it in Sports mode....the volume gets turned up another notch with some fairly artificial noises on the over run.
Not artificial noises, but "boost enhancement", or anti-lag. The engine is using a controlled misfire to keep the throttle open a little further on the way into corners without pushing on. It works extremely well, but you only notice it when you want really sharp response, which for is really not on the road.

In a manual car, and without Sports Chrono or PSE, I have found it really hard to fathom what I'm getting from hitting the "Sport" button. Idle speed goes up a little, auto stop-start turns off, that seems to be about it. Maybe I'll notice something more in response once the engine is run in and I'm using a few more revs, but for now it seems to have little purpose.

While I've always thought that leather was a silly material for car seats (hot in summer, cold in winter, slippy all year round) I think that Porsche have a real nerve in charging a huge premium for cloth ones- functionally better though they almost certainly are.

Ever spilt something on leather? Wipes off, no worries.

Cloth = stain.

Had full leather for the last 15+ years. Occasionally burnt my thighs when I had a convertible and left the roof down in the sun. Over that phase now. Proper roofs are far more sensible.

Mine is manual, no PSE etc - with Sport button on you can notice more urgency in throttle response (particularly if you are trying to clutch control in traffic and it is more jumpy) but also if you accelerate hard, change gear quick you get a "backfire" loud bang/crackle . Also when you lift off throttle it makes a low burble. All quite childish and more fun in town with the windows open - noiser effects when engine is cold than warmed up

Sounds like a better argument for leather carpets than seats. Never had any serious staining on any cloth seats - only an issue with young children in the car.

Ooh. Sounds like I've got some things to look forward to once run in. Thanks!

I got PASM and PTV, and I'm really glad I got both. Still getting used to PTV, and because the engine isn't run in yet I still don't really know what the mech LSD is capable of on the way out of corners. On the way in it really tucks the nose in, with minimal steering input, and in a very reassuring way. Never tried it at PEC Silverstone, might have to ask if I can go back with my new car and have a play.
Hi Liam, glad to hear you're enjoying the car, just wondering if you found the PTV makes a notable difference at road legal speeds? And if it counteracts any increased understeer from having the 18" wheels?
Am planning a very similar spec to you!

Hmm... Either it makes a difference at moderate(ish wink) speeds, or the 18" wheels and tyres are less susceptible to understeer than the 19" and 20" wheel cars I have driven up to now. Very happy with wheel choice, but I'd love to know how hard PTV is having to work on the way into corners. If I'm honest I think it's just easier to work the front tyres a little harder with taller sidewalls when driving on public roads. It doesn't feel like it understeers badly unless you try to induce it. Let me get it run in, and get used to it properly, and I'm guessing I'm going to say I like the "fiddle braking" aspect, although I didn't particularly want it

LSD (the bit I did want) is remarkably refined, but definitely there. Firing it off a wet roundabout or 3 with PSM off is very much as I'd hoped, but less of the snap oversteer I got used to correcting with Salisbury and Quaife diffs in the dim and distant.

Oh and finally, didn't particularly want PASM, but couldn't have PTV without having that as well. It's really good, I'd spec it next time, definitely adapts on both settings!
