1st post on here fellas, hi everyone

Seriously tempted by the Carnewal Exhaust, have been in touch with Gert and got prices sorted.
Just a bit nervous at buying without listening as I was caught out with an aftermarket exhaust on a previous car that a lot of people rated and thought sounded good but it droned like hell and I took it off after a month. (Tegiwa on a Type R)

Only had the car a couple of months, and its the only mod I fancy. I've already had some repairs done like a/c condensers and the flange nuts and bolts broke on the left bank of the exhaust so I had a couple of hours in the shop getting that fixed.

As thread title anyone with a Boxster 987.1 in the Notts/Lincs area fancy a little meet us so I can hear what the fuss is about cool

Cheers.

I'm in Milton Keynes.

I went to Gert last March to have mine done. It was a pleasure to go to Belgium to have the mod done - Gerts place is a Porsche heaven.

No drone cruise all day with nothing too intrusive, best appreciated is flooring it through a tunnel but just a lovely noise. Wifey and I laugh, the sound is awesome, yet hardly any louder at motorway speeds.

As you might have noticed, I'm a convert, but in my 60's, not a boy racer. (maybe still a hooligan though!)

Wait until you've run it in (c.300miles), it gets even better - so much less synthesised than the PSE IMO

Such a great modification, and made so much sweeter when you do the road trip 😀

Sorry I'm late back to the replies, been away for a few days doing a road trip of the North Yorks Moors :-)

Thanks for the feedback gents.

I'm soon hitting mid 40's and I too don't want anything too intrusive all the time, but it seems a shame not to announce yourself when you want to biggrin

Reckon I am going to go for it this weekend and get the thing ordered.
I've just had the corroded flange nuts and bolts all replaced with stainless bolts, so it's going to be an easy off/on job at my local Porsche specialist.

So still no-one around Notts/Lincs?

Thanks for the reply Andy - a lot of my driving when I use the Porsche is on the motorway, this is what made me swap out the aftermarket Type R one so quick, soooooo annoying at mway speeds

You're not near me by any chance are you beanoir?

Would really like to hear one on a 987 (preferably 2.7 but I reckon a 2.9 or 3.4 is going to be much the same)

If anyone needs a 987 donor exhaust system for a Carnewal upgrade, I have one that I bought for my Boxster S but never used, then sold the car. The exhaust system is sitting wrapped in bubble wrap looking for a new owner.

If you guys do go out, Gert took us to this restaurant for a spot of lunch. Little on the expensive side, but its fresh and tastes amazing.

The Carnewal exhaust arrived today.
Booked in for fitting next Thursday. Gutted it couldn't be sooner its only a week away.

...might have to put a days holiday in for this one biggrin

The first Saturday date available is in August, so work will have to do without me for a few hours or a day lol

Well update on mine on a 981, Gert suggests it takes about 100 miles or so for it to soot up before you get the real sound, mine a week and a half on now sounds perfect, its took about 500 miles though with the return from belgium and using it over the last few days, very happy with it so far!!

Two things to note after the trip:

1. Gert's shop, workshop and hospitality are amazing, worth the trip alone
2. The exhaust is so much better than I expected, and I had high hopes.

Just picked mine up this afternoon.

All I can say is "WOW"

Not at all in my wildest dreams what I was expecting.
I drove out the industrial estate thinking, nice burble on tick over...

Trundled out at low revs, just driving steady, all pretty civilised. Thought I expected it to be louder.
A deeper exhaust note for sure, but not intrusive with the roof up.

I drove a mile or two, thinking, sounds nice, more vocal than standard. You don't have to be giving it so much boot to get a nice sound.

Then I pulled over and dropped the roof down.
I took the scenic route home along the country roads thro some quiet built up little villages.

As soon as I put the roof down, (when you usually notice the standard setup is really quiet) this is when you can hear the magic.

On a firm prod of the throttle the exhaust barks and really makes a sound that demonstrates you've got a real sports car and some power under your foot.

Every time I come off the throttle, it pops and crackles akin to the 981 videos you see on youtube when they're fitted with the PSE.
Pops and crackles on demand every time you want them.
Like god coughing lol biglaugh
I couldn't help but drive around literally laughing away to myself with a huge grin across my face.

Now warmed up the car was ready to stretch its legs and good god what a noise.
Build the revs with some vigour and keeping your right foot planted right thro to the 7k limit, the car really does sound like a GT3, or a Ferrari at full chat.
A high pitched howl - a crescendo of revs.
Mesmerising - an absolute hoot.
The noise demands and quite rightly gets the attention it deserves when pushing on. Pedestrians and other drivers alike.

I'm yet to have a good drive out with the roof up, but initial impressions are that it has done what it was meant to do.
Added volume and a race car like sound WITHOUT the associated drone and boom of an aftermarket system.
And of course it looks indistinguishable from the standard exhaust.

I'll add more when I've done my 50 miles with the roof up tomorrow.
