Why wouldn't it - it does that automatically unless you disable it or go in Sport mode?
Clearer to identify any brake drag with the gearbox as disconnected as possible to avoid engine braking too..

..might go and give it a go and pop the heated seats on as it's freezing..

Thank Gadgit
That is exactly what i have done booked in for Thursday. Although the garage decided to order the parts today and Porsche parts in Reading wanted to know the chissis number of the car!!!
You should be ok with that. The parts man would only want the chassis number to be sure he gets the correct parts for your car.
Remember that most specialists order from the main dealer unless you asked for another manufacture, so I would not think they will quibble about that. The parts department normally understands whats going on, and as they are normal guys will understand that you don't want to be ripped off by Porsche.
The days are gone at Cambridge Harston, when you could get them to do a trade deal on parts. You can't even go to the parts dep any more..... He has to walk right from the back of the building to take the order and he's not happy about that. He must go back and forth all day.

I'm not sure there is any functional difference between coast mode and slipping into neutral (either with the selector or by pulling both paddles. Subjectively I can't tell the difference.

Hi all
I have a 2014 Cayman S 981.
I've recently experienced the sticking Bush on the brake pedal which resulted in the car braking on its own and v hot brakes resulting in a recovery via Porsche Assist. Porsche have since sorted the bush and gave me the car back.
Problem is next time I drove the car I found judder under braking that was not definitely present before the bush has stuck! Much annoyed!
Car now back in with local OPC and they're swapping bits over from other 981s to try to isolate the problem. They have already said that all discs are within their acceptable limits in terms of tolerance etc.
I'm convinced the bush issue led to these juddering as the braking was perfect before that but I suspect OPC will have another view of the world.
Anyone had the same problem as me I wonder?

Your brake judder is almost certainly nothing to do with the work carried out to fix the bush issue.

What's happened is when your brakes over-heated you've probably ended up with brake pad material deposited on the disc(s). The same thing can happen if you brake vigorously from a very high speed and get the brakes extremely hot - for instance on the Autobahn.

Usually the deposits wear off after a period of normal driving/braking, although it can take a while.

The vast majority of people who think they have "warped discs" are actually suffering from this relatively minor issue instead.

Thanks, although of course the brakes only overheated due to the bush issue..

So far OPC has inspected all four discs and said they are OK.

It's a strange one seemingly!

Hi there

I have the same problem where my brake pedal keeps stiffening and when taking my foot off the brake (whilst driving slow enough), the car comes to a complete stop. My question is, can this also affect the coolant levels as the brake issue and the coolant light flashing yellow, appear to happen at the same time. (Ps: I know very little about the ins and outs of a car). I have been topping up with Porsche’s coolant 50/50 and for some reason kept losing coolant after a few weeks (does not appear to be a visible leak). Yesterday for the first time I experienced the brake issue (stiffening up quite badly) but this time with no coolant light coming on). Just want to know if the two are related.

Ps: my car is 2013, out of warranty, 152000km’s on the clock and im case anyone has wondered, I’m not in a position to renew the motor plan.

In reply to Dannythemusicman “To confirm I had this work done around March time this year following a few weekends where I gradually felt the car braking. I had one experience where I let off the brake pedal and the car literally slowed down almost to a complete stop.”

Hiya

My 2013 981 Cayman now has this sticking brake pedal. However if I pump the brake the pedal it fixes for a while.

Has anyone else seen this, just in case it’s a different issue?

Thanks

Steve

I had this problem on mine and my indie said Porsche have released a revised bush as it's a known problem with the old design. Mine was intermittent so yes it might go away if you operate the pedal a few times but that may be a red herring. If your car has the old Bush it needs changing - end of. Mine only happened when it was hot - so in warmer weather or if it was cold and I had the heater on full blast blowing down.

My view is this should have been a Porsche recall and it's very disappointing that it wasn't. Read up on your fan or windscreen demister failing too as that's another feature with these cars.
