I have been told to expect launch at Frankfurt Motor Show in Septembeer. (I hope this is right as I have arranged trip to show and Porsche Factory Tour on strength of it !!)
Have you booked this trip with a specialised Tour Company which takes in both Venues with transfers etc or have you booked individually ?bompey said:
They're due to be announced at the end of 2017 with deliveries due from April onwards, allegedly.
Talked about this yesterday with the salesman at our local OPC having arrived there in our current GTS. Told him I could only buy a 718 with a decent (that means six cylinder) engine. He replied why don't I put in a letter of intent for the next GT4? Having found out that we've had 3 Boxsters, a Cayman S and a used 911 I would have a fair chance of securing one as Porsche are determined to weed out "flippers".... Food for thought!!dreamcar said:

Do you need the extra power, or a newer car? I was looking at my neighbours "new" McLaren 12C yesterday and thinking "how useful is 600bhp on the road today?"DJMC said:

In all honesty no. I'm as thrilled with my BGTS now as I was the day I collected it. Absolutely amazing car and I still laugh now at the wonderful sounds it makes. Beauty of an open top car is you don't have to drive at highly illegal speed to get the thrills. Roof down wind in what little hair I have left with that surround sound engine and exhaust - what's not to like!!dreamcar said:

Annnoying problem to have. I personally wouldn't actually want a GT4 as a DD - but the prospect of ultra low cost of ownership even over (say) a 3 year period would be very appealing.bcr5784 said:

Very true but unlikely I'll take it further. I hardly ever go to track days and a GT4 would almost certainly be too hard core for SWMBO (never been in one but suspect ride would be a lot harder than our BGTS) to use for touring.
I have a GT4, but it's not a daily. However, I have recently done a 2500 Euro tour and it's perfectly comfortable on 600 mile days. It probably depends on how you spec them though, mine has 18-way seats and lots of leather rather than buckets and a roll cage. I actually think they are far better as a road car than the other more focused GT cars. dreamcar said:

I'd do this in a minute but my understanding is limited likelihood of getting a car. The four cylinder just doesn't do it for me. WG said:

Also booked to visit Frankfurt in September .....but have heard a rumour that the 718 GTS may not be ready for launch in time so may be postponed until the Los Angeles Show in December ( 1'st to 10'th ). .... May have to go there as well !!That's a pain - hope you are not correct ! LA is not an option for me . Still, I am tying the Frankfurt Trip into three weeks touring in Italy so not a total loss! Problem I will then have is that I am planning the GTS as a temp pending 718 Spyder and they may end up being launched too close together! I know- first world problem!

My plane gets in at 11.35 am on the Friday so should be at the Hotel Europa Life by lunchtime . Then into the Show for the afternoon . I will try to wear a plastic white carnation in my buttonhole during my Show visit .A bit of detective work on this Forum tells me you are also in the Brighton Area . I also am a customer of Mid Sussex OPC .
