It can get warm in the summer, but it’s perfect the rest of the year and sooo much nicer in the winter as you don’t get that ‘chilled arse’ feeling that you do from leather.

Given this is the uk and we see a lot more cold/cool days than hot, I promise you it’s not an issue.

Plus, only a fool buys a GTS without the alcantara interior pack. winkbiggrin
Guess i’m the fool then

Good on you Alan - why everyone worships this synthetic fake suede is beyond me..cheaper to produce than real leather but more expensive it’s a rip off

It's unique to the GTS and GT cars, so deleting it for regular full leather is removing some of the USP of those models.

It's an option, like anything else, and if you don't like it then you can delete it but it's likely to have a resale impact.

I would not have a GTS without alcantara, it definitely is part of the character of the model. Delete it and you end up with exactly the same interior as a Boxster S. You even lose “GTS” on the headrests - or at least you did on 981 GTS. On the subject of which my car is three years old and every part of the alcantara is like new.

A must for me on a GTS as well I would pass over a car without it. But we are all different it’s what makes the world go around smile

Assume you know I was joking?

As has been debated a hundred times, GTS + Alcantara seems to be the way to go and a LOT of people will overlook cars without it when shopping in the used market. Alcatnara delete will definitely have a value impact come resale, but it's a bigger fool who spec's their car with something they don't like so that the next person gets the benefit. So you pays your money...

Zactly - and to be honest, I don't expect the 'hit' to be massive. It's still a GTS model and a desirable colour and additional spec will always shift.

I did the same - went for full leather - love it. Mine's a keeper (I say that now!).
Is it better to have worn alcantara or leather???

Alcantara doesn't wear as quickly, so it'll look better longer than leather. All it needs is a light clean now and then.

Just to add to the mix, I opted for leather/Sportex interior and find it great on these cold days (with seat heating !) - much more comfortable than leather.Wearing rate remains a great unknown of course but it certainly seems robust. My reason for shunning the alcantara was simply that I did not want a black interior. It's a shame Porsche don't offer a colour choice.

As has been commented on, you couldn't get alcantara with vented seats.....one of the major reasons I went with the interior choices I did. Whilst I accept that in a Cayman vented seats may not make much of a difference,in a Boxster, used as God intended, not having your shirt stick to your back when you get out after a mid-summer run......priceless!!!

It’s standard on the base 718 models for the seat inners.

Do agree about removing the USP of the GTS models etc. I think I still would as I don’t really like it though and I’m not keen on dark interiors.
